Thanks Rex & Nullx8
As for the home.html page: mine only shows firmware upgrade - select file and upload button. That’s it.
According tot he supplier the new firmware version is like that with no further config options

We get the occasional post from LimitLessLED on this thread. Maybe next time they stop by they can tell us why they don’t want us changing the bridge settings…
I checked with a friendly MiLight supplier - http://www.wifiledlamp.com/. Apparently the firmware is different because Mi-Light changed the source of their WiFi modules. They don’t know if the configuration facility will be added back at some stage.
It looks as though there is no other option than to use your router to assign a static IP address and block internet access for the bridge.
we have disabled the web admin to reduce support calls. and setup is all done through DHCP and the milight appstore app now.
if you want a static IP, then go to your wifi router DHCP settings, and set a MAC address fixed IP. or tick the “fixed IP” in the dhcp table list on some routers.
Thanks for the update, Hamish. Can you also tell us why the bridge sometimes gets instructions from an external internet site and how we can disable that feature?
Thanks for the info.
Removing the static IP feature is not a smart move I feel. It limits the usage of the device. The customer should still retain the option to use it (e.g. Add an advanced button and a disclaimer to the webpage).

WTF ??
what about remove the information from the not existing manuals ?
i bet there is another (chinese) Reason.
very “OpenSource” indeed …
we have removed the dashboard in your car, to make sure you not complain about the mpg anymore
We may not like the loss of the web interface on the V4 Bridge but it doesn’t stop us using the plugins. I’ve revised the Wifi Bridge Setup guide accordingly.
The web admin interface was just for setting the wifi type and password, we programmed the new milight app to auto scan for wireless access points/ssids and auto detects the security WPA2 type, and sets the password. too many users were confused by the wifi security and ip settings, dhcp and udp broadcast makes things so much simpler for grandma and kids to set up now. the bridge automatically talks to your iphone app via the cloud server for internet control using the world icon in the milight app. I will recompile and post up a new firmware on our www.limitlessled.com/dev website for more advanced users that want to enable the web admin and/or advanced users that want to disable the cloud server and/or set a static IP address on the bridge client side rather than using static ip and mac addresses on the wireless router configuration admin.
Is anyone else having trouble with the gateway falling off the wireless network? Mine stays up for about 5 mins (gauged by ping -t) then disappears until the power is recycled. I’ve tried moving closer/further from the WAP - no change.
Great plugin BTW - works really well ( in my 5 minute windows!)

No - I have not seen this behavior with either V2 or V3 bridges.
I also use the same WiFi module as the V3 bridge in my blind interfaces. One (not all) of these will go to sleep if it doesn’t get a command for a while. I send a periodic KeepAlive message from the MiLight plugins to prevent this happening on the bridges.
If your bridge drops off whilst you are pinging it, it sounds like it could be broken.

Took it off a BGN SSID and connected through a BG one. Now it’s up 95%. Interestingly the App (on an iPhone hanging of the BGN SSID) can’t find the bridge unless I swap that over as well. Anyhow vera can drive it so good enough for now. I wish you could configure the bridge rather than the router/WAP
after pulling my hair out trying to get my milights to work reliably, I ended up getting another wifi box. The new one is far more reliable, hasn’t dropped a ping in 2 days. The original box has widely varying response times, drops off the network for long periods and ultimately can’t be contacted after a couple of days.
Does anyone have a firmware and flash utility - I’d like to recover it if possible.
I have just bought a few of these RGBW led to use it on my vera lite, but I have problems connecting the wifi box (last generation) to my home routers. I have followed exactly the instructions to set it up from the iphone app, but I have never managed to have the box connected to my router. According to the doc, the app should ask me “Do you want to switch the device to STA and restart it” but I have never had that (I have tried from 2 ios devices, on 2 different wifi networks). Do anyone of you had a similar problem?
I dont think the wifi box has a problem, since I can control my lights from the app when connected directly to the box wifi.
I’ll try to set it up from an android device if can borrow one. Do you know if it is possible to set up the box using a computer? According to what I have read, it is not possible with the last version (which is a shame)
