Wifi Bridge Issues

Try: http://<>/home.html

I am almost certain that I put this in the Wifi Bridge Setup pdf that should be in the plugin download.

You did Rex, I stupidly assumed that was where it would take me when I accessed it.

I’m in now and all is good. One question .

Under Application Setting

In the Network Setting section, do I update the Server Address to the static one Ive set I the STA Interface Settings ?

Also there is no reboot option, even thought it suggests there is on under Device Management on these UI, by any chance have you worked out yet if there is URL that would do this, to save having to turn it off and on again manually?

There is no need to change this.

For some reason they removed this option from the V3 bridge. Just cycle the power. It isn't like you will need to do this very often.

Very nice indeed!

I’ve been impressed with these bulbs, but I did have to end up moving the bridge further away from my wifi router. All of a sudden I was experiencing dropouts, particularly when using Airplay. I moved the bridge to another room and it hasn’t happen since.

I’m glad you like it.

Yes I can understand why that would happen. The bridge transmits commands to the lamps on 2.4GHz carrier - the same band used for most Wifi. If it is too close to an access-point it would sometimes mask incoming Wifi packets.

Dear all,

Just received EasyBulb RGBW lights kit with remote and wifi box.
Lights are worked fine with the remote.
I’ve managed to connect wifi box to my home wifi network via app for android.
When I’m connecting to the box I cannot see and set the IP and port number and change any other settings. There is only possible to upload new firmware by the web interface.
And as a result I cannot use it with this plugin. I’ve tried 8899 and 50000…

Please help.
Thanks!
Sasha

@almj,

Open a browser page on <IP_of_Bridge>/home.html

This is explained in the documentation in the plugin package - also attached.

Hi Guys, we are in the same boat as @almj , the address in the documentation takes us to a Firmware upgrade page and we cannot move from there.

Regds

The firmware upgrade page on mine is the default: <IP_of_Bridge>/EN/management.html

Maybe they’ve changed the firmware on your version. You may need to call your supplier to see what the new url is.

You can still use MiLightRGBW, though. In your router, configure the DHCP to always issue the same IP address to the bridge and use that in the plugin. The default port is probably still 8899. You may also want to have your router block Internet access for the bridge.

Thank you! Link is working and now i can edit configuration.
Please take a look on a screenshot.

How may I include my bulbs to the box?

Also I've noticed that I see only port 80 opened on this device, and no 8899.
It seems as though some settings on the bridge must be wrong. I suggest you reset the bridge by inserting a paperclip through the hole near the USB connector and holding it in for five seconds. Then use the Mi-Light App to initialize the bridge and enroll your lamps. If you cannot get this far, it may be that there is a fault on the bridge.

Just to be sure, your bridge should look like the attached photo.

I am a bit paranoid about the remote access feature. Has anyone documented how it works? I have disabled internet access to and from the control box.

PS.
Also, the remote access feature did not work when I tried it. I assume some remote server is currently down. I have a V3 control box from Easybulb.

Yes, it looks like on the photo.
I did restarts several times. Tried to initialize by the app and via the web interface. Nothing works. May be it is just faulty?
But easybulb tech support is not replying also.

@Almj

Going back to the beginning, after doing a reset does the milight android app (e.g https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lierda.wificontroller&hl=en_GB) you are using see the wifi bridge ok?

It should show a successful connection (the icon will light up, it’s an Antenna with a tick on) assuming you are all on the same subnet/network?

Yes, I’ve made reset, then connected to milight AP, in app I’ve changes setting and included the box to my network. IP address was in the same network as a router. But nothing happens when I am powering off the lamp, then turning on and during 3 seconds I push I button in the app. in app I can see Antenna logo with a tick on.

I’ve made one more reset and I’ve tried not to touch the settings of an AP, and left the separate network milight, opened the app and once again tried to include the bulbs, the same thing, no reaction.
Is there any way to check output RF signal form the box, I think this is a problem place.

Remote control works fine with the bulbs directly, it works like a controller without the wifi box.

It is also not very easy to return the box to the seller. My friend from UK brought it for me to Russia.

I think you need to get another Wifi Bridge.

almj if you live in Russia, i think the Real Source (China) is way better to get this kind of things.

they may be more expensive if you buy only one … but well you get them just a few days later.

try this one: http://goo.gl/RjG7ec
i ordered there already, 1 was broke (of 9) replaced in 3 days and not even had to send the old one back …

Awesome plugin Rex ! I’m using it with my old 6W wifi Bridge v2 and the new 9w RGBW with the v3 of the bridge.
Works extremely well.

I have one issue though - Milight related, nothing to do with the plugin and I hope someone can help me:
I need to assign a static IP to the V3 bridge. Unfortunately neither the phone app nor the bridge webpage allows this.
The bridge webpage only allows a firmware upgrade (home.html). no other options :frowning:

The supplier mentioned that the new firmware does not allow static IP anymore. Not sure if this can be true (would be rather shortsighted of the manufacturer to do that).

Does anyone have an idea/tip of how I could get this done (static DHCP does not work as I need a different default GW IP for the wifi bridge to the standard DHCP provided setting).

Thanks !

Thanks for the feedback, @idefix. I’m glad it is working for you.

Interesting. I wonder what they are up to that they don’t want users to be able to change the bridge’s settings. It makes me even more keen to sever the connection.

On my router, I would have DHCP issue a static IP address. Then I would set the router to block internet access for that IP - which has the same effect as setting a non-existent gateway.

/home.html → Mode Selection “STA”

STA Interface Setting → WAN Connection Type: Static IP
rest is self explaining
