Wemo Ezlo plugin

Is there a wemo plugin for Ezlo or would it be controlled by using the ip device plugin and creating an ip device?

Dont think there is a Wemo plugin. Can Wemo devices be directly controlled on your LAN via http commands ?

If so you could probably use the IP Device Generator plugin.

I found this.

Iā€™m not sure how to implement it in the IP device and whether it would actually work.

It sounds like it might be possible, but not so easy as just being able to send a single line and simple GET HTTP Request.

Looking on Google quickly there looks to be several ways to go about doing this. There are various projects on Github for controlling Wemo devices, that use solutions like node.js, python, groovy, these I assume would need an always ON middle man box to relay the commands to the Wemo devices.

Or it sounds like it might be possible to send commands directly to the Wemo devices, but not sure about authentication if that would also be involved in some way? Sounds like you can possibly send HTTP POST commands with SOAP headers to control the Wemo devices.

How many Wemo devices do you have? Might be more trouble than its worth.

Also looks like there was a Vera Wemo plugin in the past, have you ever used that at all ?

First thing if attempting sending direct commands would be to get those commands working first in the command line terminal before even attempting to then integrate them with Vera / Ezlo.

Search this forum also as there was some past talk about it like here.

Also it sounds like the Wemo devices can change their port numbers so that makes it harder also, you would likely need to put your commands in to a script and run that from the Vera / Ezlo hub maybe tied in with a virtual switch.

This post on the OpenHab forum talks about the port numbers changing here

I saw the chįŗ”nging port number comment.
I do use the Vera wemo plugin
I have half a dozen or so wemo devices(plugs)
This is another show stopper for me to migrate.

There are still 100ā€™s of outstanding user feature requests. I just checked and there is already a ticket for Wemo device integration.

[ECS-117] Wemo devices integration - JIRA (mios.com)

So does that still work OK today? I thought I read one comment somewhere on the forum saying it wasnā€™t working ?

Zigbee plugs are cheap enough these days. Me personally Iā€™d probably ditch the WIFI Wemo plugs and get some new ones. But thatā€™s just me. Or Z-Wave plugs even better but more pricey. Plus I donā€™t like having lots of WIFI IOT devices on my router.

It took over 2 years for geofencing when it was mentioned it was ā€˜coming soonā€™ so I donā€™t think thatā€™s going to happen anytime soon.

Or just find a different platform other than Ezlo

I havenā€™t tried the Geo Fencing stuff properly yet as I donā€™t have an iPhone kinda waiting for the Android app to be updated to include it also. Have you managed to get the Geo Fencing working ?

Geofencing is not working for me. I think it may have worked once.

Well that is always an option I guess. Home Assistant would be the way to go. I am still very happy with my Vera Plus setup at the moment. No rush for me to migrate yet to an Ezlo hub.

The Vera controller has its quirks but it does mostly work.
I lost my thermostat support but I always have google home or HomeKit for that.

To be honest my Vera Plus has been rock solid for years. I am using the 3rd party Multi System Reactor rules engine and Home Remote dashboard app. If I have to reboot the Vera Plus three times in a year that is a lot!

The traffic is easy enough to segregate.
Non wifi devices are more secure for sure.
How many of the ā€˜offā€™ brands are UL or CE?

I wouldnā€™t go totally off brand and totally non branded I donā€™t think. Tuya make Zigbee plugs and are a big China brand. I donā€™t really use Zigbee devices though as all my devices are Z-Wave.

Ezlo supported Zigbee devices

Ezlo supported Z-Wave devices

The Vera still abuses batteries on zigbee devices. Itā€™s better on zwave after running some of the commands I found on the forum
I understand the plugs would be powered.

Only Zigbee devices I have used on the Ezlo hub were some Centralite Zigbee devices. Motion / Temp / Humidity / Water Leak etc all battery powered and I did have issues with them eating batteries yes.

Least on the Z-Wave devices you can usually set Device Parameters for things like the wake up interval to extend it for as long as possible, its usually every 24 hours the max you can set them too.

Geofencing: Should be coming soonā€¦
Reactor: because its a third party plugin, we donā€™t have a ā€œmigrationā€ script. But we have https://ezlogic.mios.com/ which is an automation platform.

Netatmo
Wemo
Nest
Harmony
Dark Sky
Are all pluginsā€¦
All the Cloud based plugins (eg: cloud services are provided by NuCAL integration we haveā€¦NuCAL is a competitor to IFTTT) and here you can see Netatmo, Nest etcā€¦
