Schlage IP cameras finally work with Vera

I believe the password is “Administrator”, and (blank) no password…

I thought I tried that. I will try it again when I get home tonight. BTW, I opened up a port on my router for the camera, but still can’t access it from the web. Have to troubleshoot that as well tonight. Any good iPhone apps for these cameras?

I use the camera support in the apps to control Vera.

I use “Live Cams” on the app store. It had decent reviews, it supported Foscam PTZ, and was only $1. It supports multiple cams.

Good tip on the app Shady. Bought it and looks like it works well with the Schlage camera.

OK…looks like even though you open a port on the router, it has to match the port setting in the admin settings of the camera for it to work outside your network (the default port is 8130).

yep, works great, very fast video updates as well.

FYI, port forward 1 TCP port to the IP address of the camera in your router, then make sure its enabled under “network settings”

add the camera as a “Generic-MJPEG camera”, The URL to use in the “Live Cams” app is

http://username:password@your-wan-ipaddress:port/img/mjpeg.cgi

the username:password is something you setup on “User Database” link, I would suggest you have it secure.

your-wan-ipaddress is either your external IP, or your DNS name if you have DDNS or your own domain (doesn’t everyone?)

“port” is the TCP port you have forwarded to the internal IP of the camera, in your router.

Hope this help a few people… I set mine to use “https” (for secure", and have the secondary secure port enabled only in the NorthQ web page application under “Network”

Mitch

You typically can map between a port on the outside and a port on the inside. The port that you configure on the inside has to match the port you set up in you camera.

Hi Mitch. What/Where is this Monitor Manager? Thanks!

scroll down to the bottom of “North Q featured product” (which is just the newest version of their camera)

you will see links to download manual, firmware, etc at the bottom:

Here they are, the application is on the “Installations software” link

Installations software : http://www.northq.com/docs/NQ9006-Install.zip
Camera Firmware 1.00.9 : http://www.northq.com/download/9006/FW-NQ-9006.1009.zip

I removed the link for the Danish manual

Thanks Mitch. I already downloaded the installation software but didn’t extract/run it, or I would have know that :-[

I must be missing something here.
I was able to flash the camera and I can see it in my router.
It gives me the
Client Hostname:
I.P. Address:
and the MAC Address:
But where do I enter this information?
The Monitor Manager will not allow me to enter it in the settings(which won’t open) and when I add the camera in Vera, and add the information, I still can’t see it a picture, just a stock picture of a film strip. I used the user name:
Administrator with a blank password Also, Vera deletes the just added camera within 24 hours.
Well I can see a picture from the camera AFTER I downloaded a new activeX , and entereing the cmaera’s IP address in my browser but Vera still cannot access it
Also, should I setup port forwarding in my router before adding it to Vera?

If it’s working in your browser (http://camera IP/img/video.mjpeg) then you should also be able to get it going in Vera.

Port forwarding is only needed if you want to access your camera remotely (i.e. from the internet) and without Vera.

Try creating a new user in the admin console in the browser and enter that information in the generic IP camera plugin in Vera. I was having similar issues and doing this resolved the issues. It will also be helpful to debug if you post a screenshot of your ip camera plugin settings.

Thanks for the reply, I am able to see all three cameras by accessing them, one at atime through my browser. I put in a new user name and password (used the same on all three camers)
I then went into Vera and entered the information and saved each one a time.
Vera then deleted two of the cameras and they never returned a picture.
Right now I only have one camera and it doesn’t show a picture, only if I access it throught the broser.
Also, the NorthQ monitor doesn’t see any of the cameras.
I will try more tommorrow as how 4: AM comes early

I am sure you have done this but I will ask just to make sure - you are entering these settings in the generic IP camera plugin, right? I have only setup one camera so far. I will try to setup another one tonight to see if adding more than one messes things up.

newstargazer;
some sucess, my router has dropped two of the three camera’s IP’s, I only have one now.
Need to study up on how to setup the router as a static IP provider instead of DHCP, I guess.
I did have the settings wrong in the NorthQ Maintainance utility.
I was using the LAN setting, instead of the Internet setting, once I set it to Internet, I can see it in the NorthQ Monitor Manager.
Now, it’s on to setting up Vera
3/23; Good news, I finally have all three cameras up and running in Vera.
I had failed to include the port number that was gleaned from the NortherQ setup page, into Vera’s settings.
I guess Vera was dropping incorrectly added cameras. Now, if I can get Vera to show the refresh rate of the cameras a little faster and locate where my stored images are, on MIOS’s website

Also, I was informed by one of the beta testers, that I won’t need PORT FORWARDING, because I can access my dashboard, online, from anywhere in the world - which I did today from work, and watched the surprised face of my wife, when Vera acted like she was going nuts and running allot of scenes!!! Gotta love this baby!!

It would still be DHCP that’s giving out the IP, just a static one. So in your router, look where DHCP is configured and there may be an option there to specify static IPs / static leases. Make sure your dynamic IPs don’t overlap with the static ones.

or, if you have some experience, you can setup up “DHCP Static” IPs, most routers have an option to make the lease “static”, which means the DHCP server always gives you the same IP, based on the MAC address of the device, this is how I have my stuff setup, so I know where things will be, yet I still get the advantages of running DHCP, if I want to reconfigure my LAN etc.
I thought the whole point of re-flashing the cameras with generic FW is to get around the activation with the Schlage FW.

Did you get a used camera, or a camera that was used with the Schlage LiNK service?
Idon’t think it matters. I had already set up my three cameras with the schlage Link and after I flashed them ( one at a time ) they work fine as just IP cameras. Still trying to get them to be stable in vera, ( they keep disapearing )
