Schlage IP cameras finally work with Vera

But doesn’t that mean that these cameras do work with Vera (at least to get a video feed), out of the box?

Well I give. (at least for now). Messed around for 2 hours with nothing. Connected directly to router with only my laptop (XP SP3 Pro) and the camera. Tried all different kinds of setting in my router. Reset the router to default. Uninstalled/reinstalled the flash utility. Tried to set up fixed mapping per the camera’s MAC address. I know I’m picking the correct adapter because I have them all disabled in Windows but LAN. If I try to choose any adapter but the LAN, I get an error. Frustrating!!!

So can you get live video through the URL that MP_777 suggested? (http://camera IP/img/video.mjpeg)

No because I don’t know what the IP is. I thought that was the whole poiint of flashing?

Log in to your router and see if there is something like a DHCP Client screen. Since it’s just your computer and the camera on your network, one IP would be your computer, the other your camera.

Managed to get one of these cams @ the shack today

OK. Getting somewhere. I CAN access the camera directly and view images. Thanks MP_777 and oTi@. However, I still can’t get the utility to see the camera!!

I would think so but you would have to go with the default user name and password.

GOT IT!!!

Disabled Symantec antivirus and it showed up immediately in the upgrade utility. AYFKM?!?!?!?

Anyway, hope this helps out someone else and thanks for all your help!

Good. I was going to suggest disabling your anti-virus and/or firewall.

Awesome! After you confirmed IP connectivity, it sounded like something could be filtering out gratuitous ARPs (or whatever else mechanism is used to find the camera).

BTW, I had kind of assumed that the whole LAN interface was non-functional until you activate the camera through the Schlage service; i.e. they would unlock it through Z-Wave.

Very New at this. Followed the instructions here and was able to flash the camera and get it to be seen by Vera. The problem is the picture is a still image which initially come up but it does not change no matter what settings I use.

What setting are you using under advanced for “controlled via”? If I change this setting to Zwave, the device disappears from the management console.

There is no need to change the “controlled via” setting.

BTW, the camera is just an IP camera; there is no Z-Wave involved.

It has now started working, pictures are being archived and I know to leave the advanced settings alone. There was some strange happening which resulted in my having to reboot my linksys router at least three times.

Ok, I have a question. I bought a wired cam and flashed the fw successfully. However, I do not own vera (yet) so I downloaded the software from the company that has the firmware/manual. I unzipped the software and ran NetworkCamera.exe. It finds the camera, so far so good, but in order to set it up, it wants username/pass. I used “administrator” and left password empty several times, I also tried to reset the camera, but it always says “either incorrect pass or timeout”. The weird thing is I can access both mjpeg and image through my webbrowser, so it is clearly working on the network (same pc that I try to configure it from). However, I’m sure there is a reason why I should set the camera up (get it to fixed ip, maybe set quality/res/format etc), so this bugs me. Any ideas?

Can’t you configure it directly through its web-interface (http://)

BTW, it’s probably easier to set a static IP for the camera in your router, rather than in your camera.

Wow, I’m new to this, had no idea that is possible, and it works!! absolutely brilliant, thanks a lot oTi!!!

Got mine up and running using Win7 in compatibility mode without a real hitch! Did notice though that for some reason, the update app was doing something nasty to my network!

Did anyone notice the update app seemed to have a Random Dot Stereo-gram? Or at least that what it looked like…unless its a corrupted picture?!

Looks like a version of this cam is now being sold by MCV also.

I wonder if there’s an MCV specific firmware?

It looks like MCV pre-config the camera to work out of the box with Vera. Someone needs to get the firmware and it will make easier for people to add to Vera.

Hey Mitch, I downloaded the monitor manager as well. Looks like I can not get to the advanced options though using the standard username/pwds - admin/admin or administrator/“blank”. Same thing when entering the camera’s ip directly on my home network. On the NorthQ website, on the Admin tab, it asks for username/pwd and none of the std. ones seem to work. Any ideas??
