MCV would have made a good start by:
- Making sure that their Z-Wave Backup was backwards compatible.
- Making the Z-Wave management tool separate and callable, by at least a savvy users.

Soliciting the input of experienced Vera users and plugin developers WHILE the UI7 codebase was in alpha stage and actually incorporating/refining the code base from that input.
Giving plugin developers ample lead time and assistance so that they could ready their plugins BEFORE the beta code known as UI7 was unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
There’s no sign of it on any of the Australian home automation stores. I’m not about to buy an overseas Vera Edge unless I’m certain that I can still use an external USB Z-Wave stick on it to get my country’s frequency.
(Sorry, forum, I hope I don’t have to support any of my plugins on the Edge in he meantime.)
I have a copy of UI5-1.5.622-en and would like to know if anyone has installed it on their Vera Edge replacing UI7? I just got the Edge two days ago and really hate UI7. Also, I can not make any Wi-Fi changes to the Edge because the “Save and apply” does nothing when I click it after making changes. support@getvera.com is not responding to any emails.
Also with the Edge, what is the Wi-Fi passcode? Everything I’ve read said it’s on the bottom of the device and it’s not. Did not get a quick start doc with the unit.

I wouldnt hold your breath, I haven’t been able to get my AUS Z-stick to work properly in Veralite with UI7 - which is why I am looking into units with AUS frequency built in. If I am going to buy a new one it might as well be a better model…
hello team…new to The forum… but I am seeking some assistance…
has anyone successfully convert from VeraLite to The new Vera Edge?
I just purchase the new Edge, and I backup my Vera Lite and then restored the backup to the Edge.
the only device that shows up is my two Nest devices… what am I doing wrong?
is there any sort of manual/direction from Vera on the correct method to perform this upgrade?
I emailed Vera support two days ago without any response, I am giving them until the weekend if I cannot this this to work
sending the devices back. any assistance/guidance the team here has, i will be so grateful…

I opened mine up to take a look inside. I see what looks to be like 3 antennas. Anyone have a report on how the reception is and what or if there is really is a 3rd antenna?

Two are for wifi, the one on the PCB is for Z-wave.

Which one do you mean? Two are on the main board and one is on the lid.
Looks like it is very easy to mount an external antenna if necessary.

The on on the lid (the pcb one) is the z-wave antenna. The two coming off the main board are the wifi antennas.

Yup.
Maybe there will be a Vera Edge Pro… Which of course will include a massive memory upgrade… 8)

Thanks both of you. Looks like the veralite external antenna would work without a problem in here. I really don’t have the need at this point to even try or play with that yet.
and please a few more USB-ports to connect:
I know this can be done with a hub but thats ugly ;D
Ok, so after testing vera edge for a first time vera user, I am sooooo ditching this crap! The web interface is slow and doesn’t make sense, it’s mobile app is crap the whole system settings configuration is buggy. All the add ins you install need tons of research to get going. I really thought I would spend some time on this but didn’t know almost everything requires research. I rather something that works right out the box and some occasional tweaking. Plus after reading vera rolls out updates without confirming that they would work with addins. Then why make people develop for this platform if you just release updates and break them. So after all this I decided I might go with Fibaro home center 2. Hopefully if I can get my hands on a US version I will definitely purchase. After reading many reviews it works straight out the box and has a sleek design and interface to it. So you can use the web interface, mobile app which looks nice as a controller. The only issue is the price is def up there but I rather pay more for a controller that doesn’t require so much tweaking and instability. Money I can get back but time is something that I can’t if I go the Vera route. I would literally have to be on this forum 24/7 to get a fraction of it to work. Plus once I get it all setup who knows when the next update will come to do it all over again. No way! Bye bye Vera edge , your crap in a little black box literally
As a user moving from a veralite that was very low on memory having over 100 devices and plug-in and 30 scenes the Vera edge is a great upgrade to me. There are several bugs that are annoying like the USB and saving static IP address but all in all I am happy. This is mostly due to having a unit that is not sucking wind and restating all the time due to low memory. I agree that vera is not for those that want an out of the box solution polished like apple products. I think part of the fun of vera is being able to work through customization issues, but you need to enjoy that kind of stuff. That being said the amount of issues with UI7 is not making it fun but a pain in the ass. I am holding out hope they can get their act together.

You got alot to learn. Good luck and let us know what you end up with. We are always looking for that unicorn.
Good Luck with the Fibaro home center 2 but, is it really fair to compare a 150.00 item to a 750.00 item?
I don’t have any complicated setup but so far the VeraEdge isn’t that bad but I haven’t had it running very long so that could change.
