Using the scream of a hair dryer to put your baby to sleep (or cover its cries) is not something I would have thought of. It certainly isn’t a habit I’d like to train my child to be dependent on.
Different strokes.

There’s research to suggest white noise resembles what the fetus hears in the womb. I’ve heard of people using vacuum cleaners, too.
What did I do with Vera… just using it. I like v1.98 of HomeWave on the iPhone 6, because it supports Touch ID. It’s nice not to have to enter PIN codes all the time.
I hope it was a joke too, because you’d really have to be stupid or too cheap to just buy a white-noise generator they specifically sell in many places just to help babies/people sleep. Also uses less energy than running a hair-dryer.
There are actually white noise generators for sale. Specifically for this purpose.
Not that expensive and definitely safer than a hairdryer.
I think you are misunderstanding the use of vacuums. Smart parents don’t train their babies to sleep with white noise. They train their children to sleep in the presence of various noises. Most parents want a resilient and flexible child that can sleep comfortably in many environments, including a room being vacuumed.
Or you can train a child who will want electronic aids to fall asleep. Your choice.

Agreed

I think you are misunderstanding the use of “I’ve heard…” I have no intention of using either a hair dryer or any other appliance as a baby sleeping aid, but if you’d prefer to keep discussing it, feel free to PM me so we can get this thread back on track.
added 3 MonoPrice PIR sensors to my QA Vera 3 UI7 7.04 unit to cover some rooms inaccessible to my K9 security team while I am at work.
Ran into a small glitch (http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,30592.0.html)
Mostly just messed around with HomeWave… dressing up my screens.
I did try to get the Onkyo plugin working again, but it would not connect to my receiver.
Installed 3 Schlage door/window sensors on the entry doors. Very smooth install on the Ui7 Vera using the Ecolink entry.
Got the HouseModes plugin working as well thanks to Vera Support. Toggling ‘secure my vera’ on and back off and setting the mode change delay in My Modes to 0 seems to have done the trick.
Now I need another sale on PIR’s and door/window sensors.
Need 2 more PIR’s and 1 door/window for the mailbox.
Installed my Aeon HEM in the Main Breaker Box today and it is reporting data — very strange data but data
Now I have to complete the configuration and start getting valid data.
Be careful, this can get VERY addictive ![]()
Heh heh… you don’t have to tell me. I’ve had this app for a few years.
After spending enough man-hours to buy a new car on ajusting the homewave screens i usally go back to normal.
Not sure why that is. Haha
I got so annoyed with UI7 >:( I e-mailed mycasaverde to have the forced upgrade removed! Hopefully now I will get some real home automation going! Hopefully they reply quickly
They answer phone calls alot faster then emails. I suggest you call them.
I was on ui5 for years. now on ui7. It’s different but works the same.
I’ve ended up running 2 Vera 3 units. My ‘old’ UI5 one and a new one upgraded to Ui7. The latter is getting all new Zwave devices. If they work, they stay, if not, they go to the Ui5 to check functionality there. The UI7 one mostly has door and PIR sensors attached at this time. I’m testing out house modes and geofencing on it right now.
My Ui5 Vera 3 last restarted 12/13/2014 as did the CMH reboot so that’s pretty decent.
The Ui7 I had to unplug and replug yesterday as the UI did not want to come up. Only the Vera logo at the top left.
Next weekend I’m moving a little used GE dimmer over from the UI5 to the UI7 unit and see what she does with that.
I had to call Vera Tech Support & diagnose failure after upgrading to 1.7.961. Tech Support ended up Hard Resetting my VeraEdge & Restoring it which worked & all is Good again!
Tech support responded to me today. My question was how come I had scenes viewable in the Vera app and Imperihome but I can only see 1 scene from my desktop browser.
This has been going on for a while and I’m on the latest 1.7.513 for Vera Lite. However it occurred in prior UI7 versions as well. I’ll post back when I have the answer.

The same happens to me if a scene uses Geolocation. It has been reported to tech support/software guys.
