Vera with Danfoss Living Connect thermostat

Hi there,

i am pretty new to z-wave and all the technical terms you are using. So please explain in a simple way :smiley: I recently finished studying business information systems. Therefor i am an “advanced” user.

At first the Informations that could be useful:

 • Vera 2 with Firmware “the latest version: 1.5.472” - UI5
 • Danfoss Living Connect (order number: 014G0002 )
 • I am from the EU (Germany)

Now my usecase is to connect one thermostat (in my bathroom) and to scedule it at 6 am to heat and at 8 am to stop.

What do i have to do - step by step - to make it work?

Thanks in advance for your help
knumsi

Since you call yourself an “advanced user” you should be able to find all of the necessary informations on the wiki (wiki.mios.com) and with the help of the search function in this forum.

A short overview:

 1. Mount the Danfoss Device to your radiator.
 2. Put the vera into inclusion mode.
 3. Put the Danfoss into inclusion mode.
 4. Create a scene which runs in the morning which turns heating on.
 5. Create a scene which runs in the evening which turns heating off.

Also how did you get firmware 1.5.472? This is not an official release of the firmware let alone a beta firmware.

 • Garrett

Thanks for the quick answer and the hint for the “wrong” firmware.

I performed those steps and the device show up in the webinterface (no temperature is shown). But when i change the temperature settings the thermostat does not apply the change (it is not shown in the Display of the termostat).

The Firmware was installed when i got the device. Where/How can i go back to standard? (Where is the correct Firmware that i should flash to make it work?)

EDIT:
Is it this one? What is the version of the most recent Firmware?

@knumsi,

Welcome!

Did you get your device through a retailer, or some other way?

Public beta board is here.
The latest firmware is 1.5.408. If your Vera doesn’t offer this version automatically, have a look at this post.

Thank you so much.

I was searching for a link where i could download exactly this version (as it seemed to be the last official release: http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Release_Notes ). What is the worst case that could happen when i am flashing back to standard - away from this strange version?

I bought my device from a private seller in ebay. I dont (yet) understand why this betaversion is installed and where he got it from… :-/

Do you have any hints why the settings (set on vera) are not applied on the thermostat? Will it work when flashing back?

Are these the thermostats that go on radiator heaters? I thought the changes only take affect when the device wakes up.

 • Garrett

Yes, they fit on the radiator.

Even if i wake them up “manually” they do not change anything :frowning:

EDIT:
By the way, this is the installation/configuration help with plenty of commands from danfoss:
http://heating.danfoss.com/PCMPDF/Z_wave_living_connect_VDHMB202.pdf
http://heating.danfoss.com/PCMPDF/Z_wave_commands_VDFNN202_teamcent.pdf

But its not helping me in any way because i do not know how to use these commands or how to configure it to make it work …

EDIT2:
http://forum.fibaro.com/viewtopic.php?t=855
Now im laughing out very loud! They sell one Version called 3.02 that does not work with z-wave controllers but the earlier version 2.5 does. They both look similar but the new version has no z-wave … And my reseller did not know it better and sold the one that does not work :frowning: Though he wrote it in his description …

I ordered some of these last week, should arrive within a few day’s. Then I can let you know if they work…

Thanks chixxi.

Please tell me where you bought yours and which firmware version they are (as soon as you received them) with the information if they work :slight_smile:

Hi guys!
there are now 2 topics which are actually the same I think… maybe we need to / can combine them?http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,12289.msg91882.html#msg91882

As far as I can see, there is the “old” 014G0009 and the “new” 014G0012 which actually have the same software right?
I can see on the sticker of the battery cap SW 2.06 which should be the software version right?
I checked the 014G0002 and this has the danfoss software only (no zwave) so I guess thats what went wrong with your order…

@knumsi,

From the [tt]Advanced[/tt] tab of the device, in the [tt]Variables[/tt] section at the bottom, what is the value of the [tt]Configured[/tt] variable?

And can you compare your [tt]Settings[/tt] tab to @DRuw’s?

@DRuw:
014G0002 exists/existed with more than one firmware version. The newest (3.02) does not work. The older version (2.06) of the same Product does work with z-wave. Compare to this source: http://forum.fibaro.com/viewtopic.php?t=855
Look at the manuals i posted above. There is 014G0002 also described to work with z-wave.

@oTi@
tha value of the “configured” var is “1”

Settings Tab:
Differs very much from DRuw’s

Hi, Just to keep the aforementioned two threads aligned for now - as reports suggest we will have a new 2.50 fw of the Living Connect out very soon, (branded ‘Connect Z’ it seems ). Should this new device works/act differently to the previous 2.06fw, then i think it would be good to have a separate thread running for any discussions around that new unit (rather than risk confusing people who have the older one)

Hi Guys,

I have got a couple of the new z-versions with fw 2.5.3. They connect easy with Vera but they seem to behave a bit strange. When I change the setpoint it doesnt change at the thermostat even after I get a “transmission ok” message. The SetPointTarget parameter however, changes to the rightvalue in UI5.

I managed to get the setpoint to change once - immediately after configuration.

Any input/suggestions would be much appreciated.

It looks like you are the first one that receives these new fw ones and I am not the one that can help you unfortunately but for the others: please post as much information about your adjustments, settings and possible screenshots of the valves in order for all of us to see how they work.
This can help everybody including the betatesters and yourself I think!

Will do!

It now seems one of them has started responding! I will continue testing and keep you posted.

do you also have old types of the thermostat (014G0009) in order for you to possibly check the differences?
That would be awesome and you should receive an honourable membership if you do ;D

Unfortunately not! I only have the z-version.

Im had some correspondance with a dutch shop and they told me that there is a delay can be up to 1,5 hours. But this delay should be constant so you should take that in to account.

You can bypass this if you create a scene based on a schedule.

I dont know this for a fact as my danfoss living connects are on order. I also started a new topic on luup code for this.
