Vera Plus (working beautifully, then chose fw update - now just power light)

Any tips or tricks I can try? I had boxed away my vera plus for quite some time (kids were just messing with doors and windows that I had monitoring on). I pulled it out to get back into it. I plugged it back in everything lit up and I wad able to access it via vera mobile. I could see everything was there just as I had left it. My cameras were online and everything was happy. I noticed it was requesting a fw update via my desktop browser. I told it to upgrade. It gave me the this could take 15 minutes. Well I let it sit for 30-40 minutes and it never came back online. I have power cycled it but nothing. I sent an email to support but hoping there is something I can do to resolve the issue myself. Any help is much appreciated.

I just updated my edge to the latest firmware.

After the update all the lights were on but I could not connect. Web portal showed offline and attempts at a remote connection did not work despite indications by vera lights that it was on line. I was set up wirelessly so I hooked the vera in to the home network via cat5 cable, restarted for 3rd time…still nothing for a good couple of minutes. After 15 minutes I was going to do a reset to factory when a new IP popped up on my DHCP table. Vera still showed offline via web interface. New IP was the vera and I was able to log in remotely, re-initialized my wifi. Vera popped up on web portal.

NO idea if this will help you but figured I would throw it out there. Good luck.

This is the second time my Vera Plus failed after firmware upgrade.
Error flashing by:
/usr/bin/GetLatestVersion.sh: line 139: can’t create /etc/cmh/version_latest: No space left on device
http://home.getvera.com/firmware’;"> Manually upgrade the firmware to the latest release

Last time I was able to do a Factory reset and have spend around 40hours getting everything back (including devices and crashed plugins).
Not very happy at this point…

It was the first time that my Vera Plus failed after upgrade.
I got the same failure with “no space left on device” - Ticket open.

I have all lights on with a slow blinking power light. I can see that the Vera has received a DHCP address from my router. I am unable to access anything via that address. I still show my Vera is offline.

Sounds similar to my experience. Did you physically hook up the vera to the network via cat5 cable? I let mine sit for some time after a restart and was able to re-establish communication.

Usually, a blinking power light means Vera’s somewhere in its startup sequence. If you have the network address, is the “Service” light flashing or steady? If it’s steady, try going via the portal - home.getvera.com; if not then sounds like you’ll need to call support and have them take a look.

Yeah, I let it sit overnight. It is hard-wired directly to my switch. I tried 6 reset hits in 6 seconds (dont mind if I have to reset). I just get all lights on with slow blinking power light. I notice that my router hands it a dhcp address (based on mac address). I am not able to access it via web by ip or ssh (will not respond to ping either). Any other ideas? I have an email convo with support but so far just the canned basic try 3 in 6 then 6 in 6.

I also need help with the same problem described in this thread.
One hour after I upgraded, the Vera was not reachable, all lights was not on. Then suddenly it wake up, and give me info that I didn’t have enough space available. Now it doesn’t work, again…
I have tried to call support for 11 hours but you are very hard to reach…
If anyone at the support see this, please help!

Hi all,
since a couple of weeks my Vera Plus has a lot of reboots (about once every 15min), causing scenes with delays in it not to run completely. Contacting Support did not help a thing… so I tried to fix it myself, knowing that I could do a factory reset and restore a recent backup.
Yesterday I upgraded to FW 1.7.3453, eversince the device is acting unpredictable and does NOT let me restore my back-ups any longer. FRUSTRATING !!!
When trying to restore a working backup-file, the unit just hangs with all leds on except the ones for Z-Wave, Zigbee and Bluetooth. Unit isn’t accesible nor via local network nor via getvera.com. The only solution to get out of that situation is a factory reset (6x reset-button).
So… I tried to start from scratch (new install, adding rooms, adding apps,…) and it takes huge time ?nd still resets around every 10 to 15 minutes.
In normal conditions I have about 150 devices connected… but even with the rebuild I noticed the restarts without added devices…

HELP !!! I want to try going back to firmware 7.0.22 (Vera Plus 1.7.3015) and see if that allows me to restore one of my backup-files…
Anyone knows where I can find that old firmware-file?

A very frustrated Vera-customer !

I had the exact same symptoms. Called support and they remoted in and got it running again this morning. They said what they did will also fix my recurring engine reloads–multiple times per day–common problem that is well-documented on the forum–but I’ll believe that when I see it.

@paros, guys are already working on your case.
Thanks

I am experiencing the same problem as reported by others on this thread. Vera Plus working well but then I decided to do the firmware update today. Waited for more than 15 minutes for the update to complete and now my Vera Plus is not working! The only light showing on the Controller is the Power indicator light. I have unplugged the Vera Plus Controller for 5 minutes and plugged it back in… to no avail. I have sent an email to customer support and have also left a voicemail message by phone but have not yet received a response. Any helpful suggestions would be welcomed. I’m not as tech-savvy as some of the others in this forum so could use some good detailed explanations of what to do. Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist!

I have the same problem as the OP on my Vera Plus. Unit is less than a week old. Tried several power cycles, network reset and factory reset. I get a solid power light, after a while the wifi light comes on then the unit it goes dark and starts over. So glad I bought this unit and paid for next day shipping to Alaska when a firmware update killed my old Vera3.

I got help to factory reset and restore previous firmware version and then restoring the backup.
For me, it seems like the problem is storage related. There is only 10mb available on the partition that also the plugin are located on.
I have no idea why it is such a small partition?

The support told me that other users had reported similar issues and we are now waiting for a fix until we try to upgrade again.

My Vera Plus is perfectly stable on 1.7.3232. Reading this thread, and many others on the latest FW upgrade, there is NO WAY I will put my system at risk by applying 1.7.3453! This is NOT how you release FW upgrades, throw it out there and see how many systems it breaks, and then spend hundreds of hours (both Vera Tech Support AND customers!) fixing what was broken?!?!

No, absolutely not! FWIW, I am a mainframe systems programmer (since 1981) - I’ve done more hardware, software and microcode upgrades than I could count - and THIS is unacceptable! If a bug associated with an unusual and unanticipated condition goes undetected during initial release, that’s one thing - but this one looks SERIOUSLY flawed! Many of the posts indicate Vera Plus ran out of space, you couldn’t check how much free space was available vs. how much you needed BEFORE bricking someone’s system?!?!? :frowning:

Is it possible to go back to the previous version… if yes… just give us the link so we can get our Vera Plus working again… For now it’s a big mess… many bugs…

If you can get the controller up and running (I did with a factory reset), you can downgrade to 1.7.3232 by using this link in Settings > Firmware > URL for custom Vera firmware. Then restore from a recent backup.

http://dl.mios.com/firmware/mt7621/mios/release/mt7621_Luup_ui7-1.7.3232-en-mios.squashfs

Received it directly from Vera support last evening and was able to downgrade. Unfortunately it didn’t solve my issues, but that’s another story…
