I’m not having good luck with this product. It’s starting to seem like a large waste of money…
among other issues, it keeps going down, for no reason. My network connection stays up 24/7- it’s cable modem, without any issues.
But I’ve gotten three notifications today alone (it’s only 1100) that the controller is down.
this has been going on for two weeks now.
I’m on the latest firmware, and everything checks out as ok. It’s looking like I’m going to have to set up a chron job to reboot the darn thing every 3 hours- that’s unacceptable.
If you go to Advanced ZWave Options, or “More Z-Wave Options” from the Devices menu at the top, you will see about 1/2 way down “Version”. Should read something like 2.64 L:1. (What mine says)
They have some defective ZWave chips, and mine has the exact same issue. (When I upgraded the firmware to 1.0.899, stability improved drastically, but still have issues) http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=1897.0
I’m still waiting for my new dongle to come in, but that’s the troubleshooting I’ve been able to do so far.
I am running 1.0.899 and as of yesterday have the new dongle.
I too have been experiencing the same problems as jafojeeper. Installed the new dongle and was happy this morning to find the system still working, but then it died…
Not sure what to do next, I will monitor it over the weekend before contacting MCV.
I just took lunch and when I got back to my desk, guess what vera is down.
I really thought the dongle would sort this out.
I am not really sure how to proceed. I have dumbed my system down to the most basic functionality just a night on/off scene on a few lights and a schlage lock scene. Have flashed the unit previously, downloaded numerous updates.
Not sure I wanted to spend my holiday weekend sorting this out!!
So maybe this is purely a coincidence, but today, I logged into Findvera to just poke around like I typically do, and on the settings page, I realized that the checkbox to alert me when Vera goes down was not checked. I’m pretty sure I checked that before, but I just upgraded firmware to 899 and perhaps that somehow unchecked it. In any event, I just received an alert that Vera is down. I’ve had Vera up and running now for almost a month and have never had an issue with it being unavailable/down.
Then when I went to try and login to Findvera again, I get a weird webpage where a lot of the graphics are missing - perhaps a symptom of Vera actually being down, but I’ve never seen this before so just wasn’t certain what it meant.
Can anyone educate a newbie who has never had Vera actually go down on what I should expect/see?
Can you guys let us know what your network is like?
Cable / DSL
System components. Zwave Ect.
I too have problems we need to see if there are some devices maybe causing the problem.
FYI, I’m using .899 and upon logging into FindVera (perhaps for the first time since upgrading to .899), I noticed my:
“Notify me if Vera stops responding, indicating that Vera is having a problem, or that my internet or power has gone down”
checkbox also was UN-checked. I only looked b/c of this thread.
I had the same issue with my (first) Vera. After the MCV support hooked on the machine it turned out that this was a hardware defect. They changed the machine and I lost this problem.
