UI7 ▾ Vera Software Update ▾ Version 7.0.26 (1.7.1028/1.7.3797/1.7.3798/1.7.3799

“You are running the latest version 1.7.3798” Yes—is there a new beta?

That’s what I was trying to find out too. I am hearing of a beta post May 7th which has not yet showed up. Since strangely betas tend to be more stable than the released firmwares with vera, I was hoping they gave you a new one.

Stable betas and terrible releases seem to be the norm—it’s certainly been my experience. My frustration with Vera is that they don’t seem to understand the concept of beta testing.

There seems to be some mechanism in Vera, whether a script or scripts on Vera itself, or something in the Vera cloud that reaches out and replaces deleted or changed files. Some years ago, before I discovered os.execute, I had created a cron job to reboot my Vera Lite system once a week. This worked for about a year, then after a firmware upgrade crontab was overwritten, which would not be unexpected. I edited the reboot back into crontab and found that it had been overwritten with the original file the next day. Earlier in this thread a commenter mentioned that Vera support had removed all the non-US Z-Wave hex files to free up space, only to have them reappear the next day.

My main system is running 1.7.3232, as it has been rock-solid for me and there’s nothing in the new releases that I need.

Yes. Then after reset of the system I had none, then again couple every hour.
As I was informed by Customer Care, it was the problem on Vera’s server side and now everything should work normally

I don’t know about problems with removing devices (if it is solved or not), but I’ll ask

From what I can tell, the latest beta has also been removed???

I am on 3799 (Vera Secure) with no more issues then normal with vera. Thought about downgrading. I don’t like being on a pulled version of the firmware. Could not find that last beta which was good(ish) for me me.

Yeah, I also wanted to do downgrade after my issues and couldn’t find it.

Well migration is been a little bit of work from Veraplus to Home Assistant, however the piece of mind of being able to restore from backup, having the ability to do snapshots, and customization is great. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me, I seen this with ST and the dependence on the internet and not vetting updates. Now I have total control of the version I am running, being able to know what is being done to my OS / Controller (not relying on someone that will not explain what they are doing to my controller that is in another country), and have the customization that I want. This may not be for everyone, however I think I have been fair at giving this product a chance.

I saw some post from mcv that there was a beta after 26 (May 7th). I think on FB. Have not seen anything yet.

New firmware has just been posted…

Who will be first to upgrade?

Is this a beta?

Looking at release information, no. But my controllers (running the 7.0.26 beta and “official” (withdrawn) release) don’t see it (yet?)

Same here.

I will try it, send me a link…lol ;D

If you did the last upgrade you won’t see it since this firmware has a lower release number…lol. Currently I am on 1.7.3799 so without a link I am stuck.

No, older versions have 1.7.37x this has 1.7.38xx

Do the release notes say what has changed since the withdrawn beta and previous release?

This is interesting… knowing that releases are usually really alphas and betas are more stable than the official releases, I am not too surprised.

Here is the link for the Vera Plus if it helps…I always just replace the version number and it works.

Upgrading mine now…

Update: Well it updated just fine…I did not remove any of my plugins prior to free up space. After updating the “overlay” partition was 94% full (see screenshot). Previous firmware was at 98% followed by the “can’t write user data” error. After doing my little trick of replacing the superfluous z-wave firmware files I’m am now at a comfortable 77% full (2nd screenshot). I’m guessing they reduced the size of the update a little. Hope this helps someone. Let you know if I experience any other abnormalities.

Installed with no issues on the test VP. This system has two Z-Wave devices and ALTUI, DelayLight, and SysMon plug-ins, so it’s not heavily loaded. The “disk” was at 74% before the upgrade (no attempt was made to remove surplus files) and is now 70%, so they have cut down the size somewhat.

UPDATE: Storage has dropped to 69%, but there are still 2+ MB of useless Z-Wave .hex files. It would be trivial for the install script to check the region and only install the correct Z-Wave firmware file.

Read the release note. It is a 26.01 which is another fix of a booboo catastrophic release.
Not much new besides the new zwave firmware compared to 25 but I think the UI feels much faster just like the beta.

Happy to see this finally:

Fixed issue that affected initial 7.26 updates with regard to third party cameras when digest authentication was used.
