UI7 Vera android app geofencing issue
NO … you get notifications when ever the app wakes up …

i.e. WIFI status changed, User gets off the phone, Location services change, Fence transition, …

All of these events start rapid update.
Understood and explains the numbers to me now. I’m a little anal and don’t like having the numbers on the icon but I have learned to live with it. I do find myself opening the app just to clear the number. Just like having unread emails or texts. It drives me nuts when the wife’s phone has a ton of unread and the notification tab is full, numbers on top of icons in the dozens.

Good to see you can ask q’s a well. integli.
By the way I have assumed that fence distance was in meters but is it all in miles ?
Not that it matters much, but I have noticed that 500meters was somewhat longer.

Is it all in miles or meters ??

Fences have to be by miles. I use a .11 mile fence around my house. .11 meters would be to small.

Thanks !
i use 0,3 and 0,5 and I thought I got the notice a bit far out.

So is the only way to avoid this to bump the fence radius up as high as possible until it’s fixed?

Mine is attempting to send the message when it should (leaving/entering the area around my house), I just get a super annoying notification/vibration every time (“Exit - Command can’t be sent to our servers.”).

I tried re-logging into the app (android) which didn’t help. As noted in the previous posts it doesn’t look like you can delete the geo-fence either (without replacing it); at the moment I think I have all of the checkboxes off so I’m not sure why it needs to send the message to begin with.

After I have set up the vera plus I cannot make it work.
When I try to set up fence “action” I get the message “no option available, select an other type”.
What am I doing wrong ?

Same here, My wife is a user on Vera and I set up the geofence at our home with a radius of 400 meters. Whenever she leaves or enters the radius she gets a notification “Can’t connect to the servers.” Which is super annoying.

To make matters worse, I can not delete the geo location. Even with all check marks “unchecked” and deleting the geo location from the menu where you see the map. My only work around is to make Nova Scotia my “geofence home”

I had the same issue, opened a ticket/enabled remote access and they deleted the fence for me (not sure what hoops they had to jump through).
I don’t really use the android vera app (I use imperihome), so clearing the vera app cache data and not opening the app up worked around the popups until they deleted the fence.

[Edit: cleared app data, not cache]

So the geofencing issue updating to the Vera servers is still an on going issue?
I just enabled the GeoFence within my Android on Saturday. When I left my area, I got a notice that I had left. I forgot something and received a notice when I entered back in. I left again for an extended period of time and upon returning I received the “We cannot send the update to our servers” error. The only difference between when I got them and when I returned the second time was that I disabled the Notify option. I would like to use a geofence to auto set Away. If Vera doesn’t work anymore, are their other products you use that integrate?

I get these errors at times as well. Generally when I get the exit or enter notification pulling on my drive or off it. I’m wondering if my phone is negotiating with my WiFi to connect (or is in the process of disconnecting) and the phone hasn’t switched from/to 4G data signal fully. If that’s the case, it’ll be hard (if not impossible) for GetVera to resolve.

As for as alternatives, search the forum for geopresence using a DD-WRT router. I use that to backup the geofencing.
