UI7 Support?

This post is for pushing it to apps.mios.com:

Well, I tried going to UI7, and have downgraded back to UI15. The main problem was that I couldn’t get to the Serial Port setting under Develop Apps (I could click and get to every other item in that section, but not the serial port), so I could never configure it to connect to my DSC alarm system.

Any way to get this plugin to arm from the mobile UI7 app? I guess I could create a scene, but I would like the option from devices like I can from the web UI7 interface.

You’ll need to contact the developer. But you are better off using 3rd party apps as they’ll have better integration.

Hey guys, need help here… I have a 1832, vera lite UI7 and a EVL3CG
I added my alarm panel, it showed every zone I have, but the status can’t seem to change whatever I tried…
Also, can’t change the EnableRemoteArm, it always get back to false, whatever I’m trying…
any hint ?

For anyone else having this problem in UI7, my DSC Panel device kept showing as ‘Can’t Connect to Device’ and was causing a big red error on the dashboard.

In the I_DSCAlarmPanel1.xml, i added on line 1095:

luup.set_failure(false)

…right before:

return status, message, area

…which was inside the alarmStartup(lul_device) function.

My dashboard is now showing green! I’m sure this should probably be embedded in the if block above to only run luup.set_failure(false) on a successful startup or luup.set_failure(true) on a failed startup, but I just wanted the error to go away.

With UI7, should I be able to see open/close motion/no-motion for each of my zones? I just got a VeraEdge and am building it up to mimic my VeraLite with UI5 before I make the switch. I setup the IP address, choose EnvisaLink, setup my door and motion zones and have a bunch of devices, but no status for the devices. Before I go further, I’d like to get this working.

Thanks.

Completely unhelpful comment; Just wanted you to get credit for making me - unintentionally, I suspect - laugh out loud on an otherwise super-frustrating Sunday morning courtesy of MCV & Vera.

Thank you!

Following up on my own post here…

My problem with the DSC plugin was that I had both my VeraLite and VeraEdge trying to both talk to the Envisalink and the Envisalink only supports 1 TPI client. When I set the VeraLite to a bogus IP address, the status of the zones started working in the VeraEdge. The UI is a bit subtle, but that part is working now. Fhew, now onto the next piece to get my VeraEdge setup!

Hello all,

I have a secondary VeraLite that I decided to put UI7 on, for trial. I took the advice of others and have left my ‘live’ system on UI5, which is functioning splendidly.

So I’m a little flabbergasted by the interface. At first glance it’s prettier, easier to work with, and has much more promise than UI5. The problem is I can’t actually get at the nuts and bolts of the Home/Away/Night/Vacation functions. I can’t have those functions arm my alarm system. Then I figured if I can build a scene to do it, I can have these ‘modes’ trigger the scene. I can’t seem have them trigger scenes. I can’t have them do anything other than the super basic “turn on/off, or arm/bypass” stuff in the interface.

Is it just me, or is this by design? They seem to have dumbed it down. They’ve positioned themselves well to compete against Wink or SmartThings, but in the process, they’ve abandoned all advanced functionality, leaving their support base in the lurch.

Am I missing something basic here? I can’t find anywhere to get at modifying the Vera modes to do anything other than turn on or off zwave or similar pre determined devices. It’s as if Vera suggests all they want people to use this for is zwave…

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised. I was advised to not use this unit for any professional means. I am lucky that I only employed a few of them, working so perfectly on UI5. Now it’s hard to find a VeraLite, and there’s clearly no future in UI5. I might have to go OpenHAB for future development.

Merry Christmas!

I’ve read through this topic, as well as a few others, and I can’t seem to find the answer to this.

PS… Does Micasaverde even read the forums? The only thing that sets Vera apart from the other broken entry level controllers is the apps and the app makers…

Isn’t this what the HouseModes plugin does?

Perfect. thank you. I was missing something simple and obvious. Appreciate your reply. Merry Christmas!

You are welcome. I haven’t messed with it yet so I hope it works. Merry Christmas!!!

Just upgraded to UI7 and I am getting a red banner “Can’t Detect Device” on Alarm Panel.
Using EnvisaLink 3 and in EnvisaLink UI I see “EnvisaLink TPI Status” = ONLINE and client being my Vera3 IP

Any idea hos to solve it?

Tried to check the SVN for updates but seems to been moved or …?

Same here. Went from working UI5 to UI7, and while the partition 1 device functions just fine (can arm, disarm, etc) and all sensors are reacting as they should, the “DSC Alarm Panel” shows “can’t detect device”.

Obviously you haven’t gotten any advice for three weeks, so here’s to hoping that two of us will prompt someone with more knowledge on the issue to chime in…

Hi,

I can only recommend one thing…downgrade to UI5.

This DSC error disappeared but came back sometime, also other devices (plugs) got the same state and the whole feeling was buggy.
I will stick with my Vera3 with UI5 until that is dead and then check the market for other options

So, UI7 somehow managed to mess up the actual alarm system?

No, I should have clarified. The “DSC Alarm Panel” is one of the two devices that the plug-in installs in Vera. In UI5, the “DSC Alarm Panel” just sat there as a device with no usable options (other than configuring IP and port). But it stayed in the clear - no errors. With UI7, there is a red bar, and the error that says “Can’t Detect Device”. It appears to be strictly cosmetic, as it has no effect on the second plug-in generated device (Partition 1).

I can ignore it, but it would be nice to get rid of the error (or hide it) somehow, as it would help clear off the warning at the top of the dashboard screen.

It was indeed working but in my home automation I don’t accept “false alarms” that something isn’t working. Also I had failed turn on/off’s for lamps in scenes…things that never have failed with UI5.

So even if UI5 is ugly and stuck into 90’th century…it’s more stable and I prefer to have a stable home automation system than the latest software and nicer UI…instead I develop my own dashboard with selected controls/information.

I’ve also just upgraded to UI7 and getting the red banner “Can’t Detect Device” on Alarm Panel.

I haven’t had a chance to test the alarm yet but if I understand what’s been said in this thread already, it should work as it did with UI5 and I can ignore the device error?
