Touchscreen Interface for Vera...download
They are all Trane’s- like your picture.
I only have one dimmer but it works perfectly.
Thanks.
I have been testing my thermostat which is a Wayne Dalton and it works fine. I have noticed that the update time on some of the functions can take as long as five minutes. My software sends the commands out and Vera doesn’t update the variables until it hears back from the thermostat. The thermostat has timers on turning off the fan that I think slow things down…
Take a second look and see if the values change over time.
Use my variable watch as well and see what the Vera is reporting.

Tim

[ul]@TimAlls, reading your last update you indicate something about hiding/unhiding for Devices and Scene? I look through all the tabs and could not find any indication of hidden vs not hidden items… am I missing something? Also you indicated that we could change the room titles and sequence is possible and if so how?.

Observations:
[li]Need some way of indicating fields that are reporting value vs user changeable values denote via color or some other schema. The reason is that in a number of fields the user seems to be able to change values e.g. setup tab but after depressing enter it returns to previous value.
[/li][li]What happen to the scene LUA coding tab?
[/li][li]Setup tab - what is the general path boxes there is an icon two boxes connect, when you fly over the bottom one provide you a selection of valid vs not valid path, whilst the top path does not present me with the choice.
[/li][li]Setup tab - Am able to change Port address using the up/down controls, when I select a different port I get a read error however the read lead still flashes green like its communicating.
[/li][li]Variable watch tab - when moving ones cursor over a field and selecting it the user feed back is that you can change values but can’t
[/li][li]Reports tab - seems to go directly to the analog graph, would have expected the first tab reports or last used. What value is the analog graph, since you fixed the digital graph make better sense and more useable.
Why is Categories and Room tab in the reports tab, would expect it to be with the scene and device tabs in fact since they are all reports maybe they should be in the report tab.
[/li][li]In the report, scene and device tabs seem like there is a blue vertical line in a number of the fields columns, seems to be in different columns in different tables.
[/li][li]Control tabs - the switch, dimmer, scene and security titles are being truncated, not enough real state. [/li][li]Dimmer value allows user to input a numeric value but doesn’t take.
[/li][li]Get rid of the Pad how to tab and make like you did the setup-tab “Notes” be consistent.
[/li][li]Digital graph, is there a way of recording the history and being able to play it back would be good for trouble shooting LUA code interactions.[/li]
Definitely looking better… currently the only tab that can be inter acted with is the controls tab. Would like the ability to sequence the report tables by selecting a column and having it sequence A-Z or Z-A.[/ul]

@TimAlls, I noticed that your “Touchscreen for Windows” post seems to be void of observations for the past two days. Me thinks that the move from “Scene Scripting” to “Remote Control” has caught most folks by surprise as there isn’t anything within the “Scene Scripting” folder indicating that your subject was moved and “Remote Control” which in my humble opinion is not the most intuitive location. Mike

Hi Mike,
I am not ignoring you … we are trying to get a 92 foot yacht ready to sail…been tied up. I knew the move would be confusing…I have put code generation on hold until I am done with the current project of touch screen control. I need to get the final done so it can be installed on our latest yacht. All of the reporting functions etc. were laying the foundation for the Control Point interface. I am also going to be adding camera control which is going to be a challenge but I have the basics working. I will be adding a tab that displays 4 cameras in each tab and the camera will pan to a location that you touch…very nice. All panasonic cameras right now and very fast since they go straight to the cameras!
More to come…I hope others will find me here.
By the way, I have found a way to trigger vitual switches in Vera from VISUAL motion detected by the panasonic cameras…it works with sound as well!
Regards
Tim Alls

@TimAlls, I wasn’t implying that your ignoring me, we all have real lives other than our hobby VERA ;D. My only point is that you were getting inputs from several other folks and with the move it seemed to drop to nil. I’m excited about the Panasonic camera feature as all of my camera’s are the same, I’m assuming that your using the camera’s capability for visual/sound detection? Will await your future updates. Out of curiosity your boat or business related? Mike

Im still here  Just waiting for Tim to get his real life obligations done.

@Tim, interesting… i got some new Windows blinds controller from Merten.
Vera wans kind enough to accept it on inclusion.

Usefull to add to your device control?
Looks like it acts as a dimmer, problem is, i have 3 instances controlling one switch (double relay integrated to turn motor left and right).

So when youre ready and feel up to a challenge, i can send you the json to work it over…

That is a good way of putting it! I work so I can play and Vera is play time..... Your project sounds interesting.....I am studying blinds right now...Shady is going to fix me up! There will be over 20 motorized shades on the yacht I am building....I am hoping for the controllers to motor to a position rather than just up and down. The touchscreen in this thread is installed on our yacht and being used everyday.... So far so good! Cameras....wow what a challenge but I am over the hump. I am making a separate program for them until I know the bugs are worked out then I will add them to the current project. I can now do kroon alarms, sound alarms, and vibration alarms all with my panasonic camera! More to come..... Regards Tim

@Tim

Ok… well i know there are solutions for the US Z-wave versions. Merten is exclusivly EU i think.
However, it should be possible with my new Merten gear to set it to a certain position.
Will let you know how it goes…

As for the camera stuff… INTERESTED…
(only my generic plugin still doesnt do snapshot easily -streaming works great-)

Let me know where i can help!

Best,

Henk

PS, did you get my last email (16th of june)??

Thanks Henk for directing me this way.

I installed Labview and downloaded the most recent version 1.018 and have it running. I have not been able to get it connected. I inserted my IP address (same one as shown in MyMios). as 192.xxx.x.x
Whn I do it lights the green read light for a bit and then a button pops up besides the read light indicating read error. Any thoughts as to how to make it function?

Thanks,
Ron

@Minnies

This could indicate a bad network connection to your Vera.
Did you save after inserting the IP address? did you set port 3480 (default)

Theres a lot of variables that could go wrong, let me know

 • Are you trying the software on your local LAN or remote?
 • Are you sure you have the right IP (you can also check it in Vera’s UI by clicking advanced in your toolbox (top section) and got to the net & wifi section)

Wow, that is fast Henk

I have 2 different addresses. The one I wrote down when installing Vera and the one shown in IU4. They only differ by the last digit (by 1). I have the one shown in My Mios indicated.

I am doing this remotely. I have IU4 up and running and everything seems okay there.

When in Labview it now show 190 and counting reads and the reading in the dimmer space has changed.

One thing I noticed is I never had to indicate a password, but that may only apply to MyMios. Not sure.

@TimAlls

Found some interesting bugs when going back to 1.018 after i added my latest z-wave devices to Vera.
Let me know when you find time to check them over with me…

For now… il wait till you get back online 8)

Ron,

This application does not use any passwords. It connects directly to the user_data on your Vera.
When the counting starts and the led blinks green, there is connectivity and you can start playing with the program.

Be aware, when using this application remotely, you need your portforwarding set correctly to get acces to the local IP of your device. Also the internet speed/bandwith plays a role.

If one or some of the packets gets dropped, you might get read errors since the program cannot acces the user_data momentarily. No problem, it should pick it up again a little later after a few (automatic) retries.

Hope that helps!

Hi All,
I have been bogged down at work and unable to play…but things are slowing down now!
Henk, Give me the latest bug report abd I will start working on them.
Minnies, I never really intended this to be used remotely…what is the application you need this for…just curious
I don’t have it setup to access through MIOS but I can look at adding it in if enough people want to use it that way.
Let me know…

Tim

Hi Tim. It is for a rental house. Some of what I see and hear would be very good for that application. I will be at the house in 2 weeks and can verify if I have the remote access enabled (though I am pretty sure I do as I can access it through Mios).

Thanks,
Ron

Hey Tim,

Is this just for a desktop or mobile device? Also what is the OS Windows XP, Vista, 7 or Windows Mobile 6.5 or Windows Mobile 7?

@computerjohn

As @Timalls is a bit busy these days ill jump in:

The software is based on the LABVIEW framework. So basically, the program will work on any client/OS you can install LABVIEW on.

Installation instructions are in the first post of this thread.

My guess is it will work with at least the Windows desktop versions. It does not run on Mac however, despite the availability of the LabView runtime engine.

@henk is correct…The software will run on any Windows version you have and it will not run on a Mac…sorry! I use it on a Touchscreen All in One computer that is embedded into a wall between the Galley and Salon ( kitchen and living room) and it gives you great Local control over the Vera. It could be useful on a laptop, Pen Computer, or any other Windows based machine for operating your lights. The back side to the control…reports, graphing, etc. Can help you figure things out about your system. It’s ideal for me, of course, but I hope others will enjoy it as well. I don’t currently support access through MIOS, but it is really easy to use LogMeIn for free remote access to your local PC running this software.
I am currently working on an additional Tab for multiple cameras to be displayed.

I have tested it on XP, Vista, and Windows 7. It is for desktops, there are lots of software packages for the mobile devices…EG SQRemote.
