Touchscreen Interface for Vera...download

Hi All,
This is an ongoing project developing new tools for the Vera. It is a PC program that needs a run time engine installed prior to running the program. It is all FREE including the runtime engine.http://ftp.ni.com/support/softlib/labview/labview_runtime/8.0/windows/LabVIEW_8.0_Runtime_Engine.exe
We have come along way thanks to many users who have been acting as Beta Testers… Thank you to all that have helped.
Features:
Read the “Sdata” JSON file and parse it into a list of Devices, Scenes, Categories, and Rooms.
Report Generator will export the information to Excel or HTML tables for printing.
Variable Watch will give you a view of ALL the variables from any device and update them every 2 seconds
Control Point…will give you pads to set up dimmers, switches, and scene buttons for controlling Vera from your touchscreen computer or laptop.

If you have a PC then try this out…It is designed to teach you about the Vera and allow you to expand it’s capabilities.

Latest version 1.018

I am coming down home stretch…
The Save Configuration is now working
Added help dialogue for Digital and Analog Charting
Complete overhaul on the dimmers to make them touchscreen friendly…no popups, just slide!
Easy “Control Pad” setup…Names, Dimmers, Switches, and Scenes all setup and saved in same Tab
Screen Resolution stretching…allows the window to be stretched in higher resolution

Introduced the Security Readout panel…for me it is the DSC window and door zones.

Bugs? let me know …I think we are close.

The code generator is officially out of this version…
I think it is too complex to have it here…it will be a standalone application when this one is finished and documented

By the way, I am using this program as a guide and developing a Universal Engine Monitor.
Beta testers will have to have an electronic diesel engine and a J1939 ModBus adapter…It will have all the features used in the Boeing 747 Engine Instrumentation Display!

Here is the latest on the New UI…
Added a configuration file so that it will remember your setup
Added pull down menus for dimmer assignments
Added Scene buttons with pull down menu for assignment

To run this application you must have Labview Runtime download for free:
Download my Executible file: http://www.box.net/shared/sca484trmq
You must copy the Calibtble.txt file to: c:\Calibtble.txt I will automate it later.
Give me feedback when you can.

Thanks
Tim

@TimAlls, noticed that your new UI seems to be boat related? Do the tabs adjust based on ones Vera GUI inputs (rooms and partitions)? The current solution seems to be great for local access but probably doesn’t cater for remote access today? Will download and advise. Mike

The latest version reads your Vera and uses your labels so you won't have to have your living room refered to as a Salon! It is good for local control but works great when used with Logmein.com.....this gives you the same feature as MIOS....operate from anywhere in the world. It also works great with a program called Splashtop that can run on your IPad or other local computer. This will allow local remote control. Regards Tim

When you mean the latest version, is that one you are working on? I ask because the current downloadable version still shows your nautical headings.

In my latest version you fill out the table with your own labels and press update/save, the tabs then read accordingly.
I am adding switches, thermostats, and DAD data into the next version.
Regards
Tim

Watch out on the setup…you need to place my configuration text file in the C: root directory or you will get a file error. I will fix this on the next version.

If there are no rooms, the scenes get listed on the ‘Rooms’ tab, ‘SAVE/UPDATE’ does not work.

Thanks…I found the bug and am working on a fix.
Tim

@TimAlls, have you seen the proposed Ui5 not sure when this will be available, but of note interesting concepts for device and scene displays… food for thought Mike

That UI5 is pretty, but to me the important part is how well it works. UI2’s looks were just fine, as are UI4. We can all get used to a new look as long as it functions properly.

I looked at the new UI5…the question I have is how well can it work as a control point? Is it touch screen friendly? Will controls respond quickly?
I am curious but I am excited to continue with mine because…
I am going to be merging all my projects into one, it will generate code, control and display quickly, generate reports, and pretty soon I am going to be integrating the Brultech Power monitoring.
I am going to have trend charts for power, temperature, and what ever else you guys inspire me to do!
It’s time to have the users in charge of the design, I am not sure if the designers of Vera are really in touch with the Users needs. I do hope they surprise me…we will see!
We will always need their UI for setup…I don’t plan on getting into that area.
Enough rambling!
Tim

This is the combined effort all in one program. I need someone with Dimmers and Switches to test the new UI Control Panel. Screenshot Below…
This application has the ability to read your system, report devices, report scenes, export reports, watch variables, generate Luup Code, and now control devices similar to SQRemote but on a much larger scale. The code generator will be expanded once I get more feedback. Addition Control Point tab will be coming soon. Once someone test the switches ( I don’t have any on my system) then I will add the ability to save your configuration.
Take a look…

Control Report & Code 1.002

Havent tried them all, but my closet switch won’t fire after clicking below the switch chosen in the control tab. the scene that fires it did work, though.

edit: My dimmer works properly.

edit: none of my switches are working.

edit: scenes work well.

I think I found the bug on the switches…I will update in about and hour…
Maybe I should just buy some switches…sure would be easier to debug!
Thanks
Tim

Probably!

Ok…one more time on the switches!

I hope that does it!

Sorry to say, nope. If you do get them to work, I might suggest that the button under the description show the current state of the switch- ie either red or green. It begins with a brown switch which doesn’t tell you whether the switch is on or off.

Also, your QUIT button doesn’t work anymore.

My HTTP request must be incorrect…it take 25 second to timeout. Switch to a different tab and try the quit button one more time.
I will try one more time…more to come!
Let me know if anything else is broken…

The different tab “quit” worked.

Is a scene supposed to show a “1” if it is active (it’s showing “0”)? For instance, I have a “night on” scene which turns on a bunch of lights before sundown. Obviously the scene doesn’t run continuously as it fires once and then waits until the following day to fire again. Just wasn’t sure what it was supposed to tell me. One the other hand, I have a “vacation away” scene that shows “1”, but the timer is unchecked and inactive.

I am unsure…I believe that a scene is active “1” until anything it controls changes. Then it is considered inactive “0”…lets let some experts chip in…anyone reading this that knows???
I will have one more try at the switches coming in 30 minutes or so…still reading!
