I am a newbie in Vera lite. I want to control my Sharp TV via vera. Do you guys have any step by step instruction to show me how to do it? I have installed the Sharp Aquos TV plugin in the vera lite but doesn’t really know how to setup my TV to use it. Please advise. Thanks!!
I have attached an image of the instructions from the Sharp TV manual.
You basically set it up with no login ID or password and use the default port.
Then you can use the Vera Plugin to control it by entering the MAC Address and IP address in the Settings tab and saving. If you want to be able to power the TV on with Vera, then you need to send the OnIP command from the Advanced tab of a scene (this is a one-time thing). Please let me know if you have further questions.
I have the plugin installed. after uninstalling/reboot and re-installing/reboot and then loading the beta files/reboot and then re-installing the pluggin 1.2/ from market place and reboot, i can now finally control the on.off and volume of my Aquos.
I do not see other commands in the device screens. Is there supposed to be?
Also, when i go to the devices/av tab, thereis a sharp aquos listed and “control, create custom remote, and wrench”.
“Create Custom Control” tries to load a flash file but nothing happens.

Hi, there are not supposed to be other commands in the Control Pad for the Sharp TV. You access all the other commands in the Advanced tab in a scene after you have selected the Sharp TV.
The Custom Remote feature never worked in UI5, so you are not missing anything there.
Hi OtisPreslsy,
Thank you so much!
No problem

Hello,
I Sharp LC70LE747 I tried the plugin and it seems to work well, I just a problem.
If I click the plugin to turn off the TV, it’s ok, but with a scene, the use of power off does not work: (
However, the Power On of the TV with ONIP in the scene it works very well.
And where is volume up and down via scene please?
Hope your help, thank you all.

The OnIP command only needs to be sent one time. This just changes the setting so that the TV can be powered on over IP.
Make sure you are using the On and Off commands under DiscretePower1 rather than RemotePower1. The commands under RemotePower1 only change the ability to turn the TV on over IP.
I hope this helps!
Yes very good, it’s ok
I’d love to be able to up or down the volume of the sound and also choose a chain (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9).
Thanks

You can do everything on the Advanced tab of Scenes (Volume, Channel Up/Down, etc), but there is a volume slider just above he On/Off buttons on the Control Pad. I didn’t want to clutter the Control Pad with too many controls as it would make them more difficult to press accurately since they would have to be smaller.
yes, I was talking via advanced scene controles. There is no volume up and down and not the number 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Ahhh, OK. This is a bit more complex, because IP Control provides no mechanism for turning the volume up or down, only for setting it as a number from 0-60, which is why I created the slider. I will check into implementing the setting of a particular number in the Advanced section of a scene too. Would this work?
I could create a variable to store the last set number in, but this is easily thrown out of sync when someone changes the volume with the remote. Sharp does not provide a way to query state or confirmation that the command you sent was executed as expected.
We could not define a variable volume xx%?
In advanced scene select option first volume, and after the xx%?
Thank you for your patience

I will look into this.
I have a Sharp Model LC60LE847U, downloaded the app. In the advanced tab I entered the TV’s IP address but the TV is not responding to the on/off commands, is there anything else I need to do to enable functionality so I can control it via IP?
thanks!

I’m assuming you went into the TV menu option for IP Control and enabled it, correct. Remember black username and blank password (this tripped me up).
To enable on/off, in any scene you have to select OnIP from the advanced tab and then run the scene once. This will make the TV stay listening for commands. After that, the OnIP is not needed anymore.
I created a new scene for the sharp TV and then went to the advanced tab by adding the sharp tv, however I cannot find in the listing
onip command is that were it is located??
Can you guide me further…thanks again
I was able to create a scene, under the advanced tab I added the sharp Aquos TV and then added the “onip” command .
I saved and then ran the scene, afterwards I pressed the “on” button for the device Aquos TV but no response as far as turning the tv on?
The device is configured with the right IP address the mac address self populated.
pls advise
Thanks

On the TV, in the IP Control menu, did you enable it for IP Control? Mine was not on by default, I had to enable it.
i got it working !
One thing I noticed is that if the TV is powered on via the TV remote control, after a while the ip control via vera of on or off works correctly, however if the tv is powered down for some 30 seconds or more and I try to turn it on via the vera it does to power up.
The only way to make it the vera control of on and off is to use the tv remote and then later it can be commanded via vera…
Any suggestions?
