New Express Controls / New Homeseer Motion detector HSM200

Motion sensor does not work at all on my Vera Edge. I didn’t test it on the latest firmware, but on the prior firmware I didn’t even get a motion sensor device.

Tadr… upgrading to the latest firmware made the device show up correctly for me.

The light only flashes when it detects motion for the first few minutes it is plugged in, or if you press the button on the side. As this puts it into “test mode” (to test the position of sensor… similar to walk mode for a security based motion sensor). After it exists test mode it should continue to detect motion without the light flashing.

However on mine, it won’t send the results back to Vera even though it detects and sets it up as a motion sensor.

Have you had any luck with the motion sensor actually reporting motion back to Vera? Light and Temp seem to work, but slow on mine as you commented on.

I have been trying to set up this unit for over a month. I bought it from Homeseer and they have provided no support at all. I am using a Vera3 with UI15

I have the same problem with the HSM200…
I can connect it on my Vera edge…
On test mode it dectect motion…
I have a temperature and light reading…
When it leave the test mode, I have nothing…
I even unplugged it and the readings stayed the same and I can arm or bypass the sensor with no trouble…

Apparently this is all due to the lack of the latest “notifications class” in Vera which is not supported. I do know that the owner of the company Express Controls that makes these devices sent 4 of them to the Vera team almost 4 months ago. It’s not the device they don’t support, it’s the newest Z-Wave Notification class which this device relies on isn’t implemented. I’ve been pushing them HARD to get this done, I urge you to as well

After requesting an update on my Vera support ticket, I’ve heard back from Vera this morning:

“I just wanted to let you know that I’ve informed our development team of your request and I’m waiting for an update. They’re looking into adding support for that functionality and as soon as it’s available we’ll test it on your unit and be sure it’s working correctly.”

Progress!?!?

I’ve been pushing the Guaranteed Compatibility in hopes they will move this along.

Well at least you’re on your way to getting your ± $150 back. I’m two weeks into the 4 week period already.

Update… Support has just uploaded to my vera-lite a new plug-in for the HSM200 sensor. Planning to test it out for them.

Where do you see the plug in?

Sorry for the confusion… They uploaded the plug-in to my vera-lite only for testing.

FYI…

I’ve been told by Vera support that an upgrade is due by the end of the week. It will include a fix for the motion sensor and added functionality for the lights.

“The plugin will be released in the MiOS marketplace by the end of this week, so everyone can install it on their unit.”

I just did a search and was able to find it… EZMultiPli Color Utility.

Yes, please test! Below is the link to the product manual that was sent to Vera. One item that doesn’t seem to be available (or I can’t find it) is the Motion Timeout, page 5. I’ve sent a note to Vera regarding this.

Other than adding custom code, which is way beyond me, I don’t see any way of accomplishing it.

That plugin doesn’t work. I just tried it and it setup a device with a color selection, but no go.

That’s a bummer… Attached is a screen capture of what my options are and it works form me. Also, regarding the motion sensor, here is what support had to say:

“The plugin released on the interface was only for the color control of your device, for the motion detection you?ll need the new software update which as far as I?m aware will be available by the end of this week. As for your other email, those are z-wave configuration parameters and can be set without any intervention from us. You just have to go to the Device Options tab from the Advanced section of the device and set them up. I can do that for you after the firmware update is released, if these are not included in the release.”

I have the exact same plugin and module, and I see the color selector just like your screenshot. I click the color button, try off and on and different colors and it just doesn’t do anything. I bet support made some other changes to your system that we don’t know about. I’ll wait for the firmware update and then open a ticket if it still won’t work.
