Firmware update 7.0.14 (7.0.15 beta it became and then 7.0.15)

Very good news, Marc. I put my last hope in this release and that future releases will be more stable and regular. I’m fed up with constantly trying to fix things instead of expanding my system.
I am pretty sure the last update was in January of 2016…

Not a single update. Tells me a story.
Call me an optimist, but perhaps the changes are big enough that they require more time to get it right.

Personally, I don’t use any PL plugins and Vera Plus has been very stable. (Not pretty or as functional as I’d wish, but solid). Does not need a reboot. I’m also using DataMine2 with an USB drive and that did not make it any less stable.
I don’t have it on an isolated network, and have a handful of UPnP devices (although the router does not have UPnP.

OTA Updates ?? When???

Customer Care can do OTA updates from the VeraEdge or VeraPlus to Z-Wave Plus devices when new firmware is needed and is available.
Hi!

I will get on this thread as well since I am getting fed up with MCV. It is so buggy and not to talk about the “Native Plugins”. Its gone weeks now for the Hue plugin to be fixed so that it works with the new firmware with Hue.
Not a warning nothing if it will break. No testing is done nothing.

All you get from MCV is “We are working on it” and maybe one day you can get your home automation working.

I understand they might not be able to turn around new firmware very often etc. But hey, bug fix releases could be sent out often (minor releases).

But I think what makes me most fed up is the lack of communication from them. It takes days for them to reply on an e-mail. They do not communicate anything with the community.

Please MCV, get your act together and start communicating and reply to things faster. Transparency is a good word and I am 100% sure you will win more customers that way and also keep the once you already have and maybe get a good reputation.
Probably the kiss of death but the Hue Plugin is working perfectly on my Vera Plus. I have been running for over a week, my Hue Firmware version is : 01033370. The firmware did update this evening on the bridge. I am using the old style philips bridge. Have you contacted Vera support? They do respond quickly and will confirm if it is a bug. I have been impressed with the Hue plugin, the functionality is great.

Hope this helps

Marc, do you mean OTA in terms of updating e.g. firmware on fibaro zwave devices via vera? Is there a list of available updates?

Yes, that is what Marc implied. The OEM will still release the firmware update and Vera will provide the ability to deploy it OTA

Mbrihed if it is the version of the bridge (if your running the newer Apple compatible bridge), just me a shout. I will have 3 old versions of the bridge going spare at the end of the week. If your in the Uk I can send you one. I am going to put them on ebay, but if you pay for the postage I will send you one.

Brientim, Since it seems you know more, what about the question if there is a list of “updateable” zwave devices? Is there? Do you know of 1 or 2 to start with?

Meanwhile only a few days left untill the new firmware including all bug resolutions is available, end of the month is coming ::)…

The z-wave plus (gen5) capable devices can be upgraded OTA. I am currently not aware of any that have released any firmware updates to date.

Generic statement: the OEM will release firmware updates and only if you need to fix or it included enhanced capability you would unlikely need them.

However, as problems are report for a specific devices, the OEM may advice Vera or a user that it exists and word of mouth (ie via the forum) may be the greatest chance to know it is available.

So no list and unlikely to be one in the future other from the OEMs.

@Sender / @Brientim - Aeotec has released a firmware update for the Multisensor 6.

We will be getting the OTA update files from Aeotec and then testing them and the OTA process.

@Marc,

I know you mentioned the beta of the new firmware was due to drop by the end of the month.
Any chance that would be before the long weekend, so that we can spend some time testing it with the extra day off?

Besides my Vera Lite and Vera Plus, I also own a Smartthings hub. Not a big fan of Smartthings, but this I like. They sent this notification the other day in an email.

Hello,

On Thursday May 26, between 10:00 am CDT and 1:00 pm CDT, we will automatically update your SmartThings Hub to the latest firmware (version 000.014.00040). The update is expected to take less than 10 minutes, during which time your SmartThings Hub will temporarily go offline and events scheduled for this time will not process.

The firmware update includes a fix for a some users whose SmartThings Hubs periodically went offline as well as improvements to the identification of secure Z-Wave devices.

Thank you,
SmartThings Support

Wouldn’t it be nice is Vera did this?

no, not at all.
I don’t want vera to mess with my device.
if i want to upgrade it i will… other wise, i prefer it to be left alone

It would be nice though if if they at least communicate when a new firmware will come.

This worries me, will this push the update back again?

Sorry, but I don’t think so.

mvader, we do not ever push an update with out you consenting to it, let along a beta build.

This worries me, will this push the update back again?
No, not in any way. One has nothing to do with the other.
