Doorbot: What do you guys think and can it be "hacked" for more functionality?

Yeah, I’m going to wait to get excited until they actually start shipping.

Also, would love if you could check the cameras from a regular web brower… We are a PC, Windows phone family. I do have an iPad from work, but there’s only one in our household…

Just got this!

We are happy to announce that the first DoorBots are leaving our garage this week for customers. This email is to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible.

 1. What To Expect ? although we strive for perfection, there is always a chance that there will be a bug in our software or perhaps even a DoorBot or two that do not work properly. If you receive your DoorBot and have any issues please email us support@getdoorbot.com or call us at 800-656-1918. Of course we hope this will not be necessary but rest assured that we stand behind our product and should you have any issues we will try our best to resolve them immediately.

 2. Shipping Information ? we have the following shipping address on file for you:

xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx

If this is not your correct address, or you would like to modify it, please reply to this email with the updated shipping information. Also if for some reason you have specific shipping instructions or need special assistance please let us know.

 1. Shipping Timeline ? the first units for shipping have already begun trickling in. Check out a picture here: http://bit.ly/19jj7pL. We will start shipping them out today, October 1st, and then ramping up from there. We are performing extra heavy testing here in the U.S. on this initial batch so the quantity that we actually ship out will be pretty small for the first 1-2 weeks. Again, our goal is that we do everything possible to ensure that when you get your DoorBot it will work and kick ass right out of the box. Our goal is to have every unit shipped to our backers by the end of this month.

 2. Setup ? we have a downloadable instruction manual as well as a quick start guide on the box. If you have any trouble setting up your DoorBot please email us support@getdoorbot.com or call us at 800-656-1918. Also, the iOS (Apple) app has been submitted and we are waiting for approval. As for the Android app ? it will be uploaded in the Google Play store on Friday as we have one more minor bug to fix before we can upload it.

This is a really exciting time and we can’t wait to hear about your experience with DoorBot.

Thanks,
Jamie & The Entire DoorBot Team

Me too… oh well… can always upgrade

This looks great. I was looking for something that still keeps the regular doorbell form factor, but I guess that’s a tall order. This is much smaller than Doorbot so I may just go for this one.

I actually requested a full refund from Doorbot, based on their untimely delivery (keep pushing delivery out from “July” when I ordered mine in June…

Let us know if you end up with the iDoorCam!

No reply from Doorbot… yet.

You never know. the problem with crowd-funding or (pre-order long before any mass production takes place) is that things look really well in paper, but the final product (if it ever makes it) could be something totally different and probably plagued with defects and bugs. In any case, both are nothing but vaporware until someone really receives the actual product.

Yeah, never should have jumped on board so early… my bad. Noe they don’t reply to my request but post on Facebook how they began shipping… yet no Android or iOS app to USE the device! Seems like all fail to me. I will give them a little longer… but no more than today.

I managed to get a full refund… I did ask them since they said they had begun shipping, had anyone had received tracking numbers and why the app wasn’t available… Doorbot didn’t comment on that. Hmm…

If it releases it will be a cool product. I have decided I can monitor my porch and doorbell with my existing camera… can add a sensor to know when the doorbell rings if I care. Funny thing is, the more I think about it, If I am not home I don’t care. Is that weird?

I just received mine. I will be working on a better way to install it within a surface mount box.
I am very interested on teaming up with someone with programming skills to integrate this. Anyone interested?

I saw this on “Shark Tank” nice Idea…

How do you like it in daily life… besides Vera integration

Looks like it needs a larger wall to mount on… not my Doorbell size trim around the sidelights of my front door.

Subscribing. I would definitely get one if either one decides to integrate with vera.

I have no skills but would nonetheless like to add my voice in support of integration!

Extremely disappointed with the Doorbot product so far.
It does not function as promised and support is not responding now for over a week.
Anyone else have one? What is your experience?

I am actually more interested in SkyBell Wi-Fi Doorbell with Motion Sensor - Amazon.comhttp://www.amazon.com/SkyBell-Wi-Fi-Doorbell-Motion-Sensor/dp/B00G3DDBVI

It has a smaller footprint and the devs are very responsive on Twitter when answering questions.

I have one. The performance is erratic. Support took about three weeks to respond and I think the answer was that their systems don’t work well and are being revised. How about you? Any updates on the last 2 weeks

I got one. Returned it. Horrible. Do yourself a favor, go to the iPhone Doorbot app reviews in the iTunes store, and just read the reviews. It’s HORRENDOUS. Here’s a copy of my lengthy review…

Unfortuantely, this item is incapable of actually doing what it says it should.

For me, my doorbell is exactly 17 feet from my wireless router, a router that streams full motion high def video from Amazon to my smart TV (via the great hard disk in the sky). And, I get full strength wifi signal at the doorbell location on laptop/iphon/ipad. So it ain’t my wireless, it’s the doorbot.

To say the video, when it works, is choppy would be generous. Mostly fuzz and blanks and blurs, with occasional snapshots of the person.

If that weren’t bad enough, the audio sometimes works, and sometimes doesn’t. And when it doesn’t, you don’t know it’s not working, so you’re shouting into the phone (while holding down the talk icon) “CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???” Then you have to hang up to reset it.

But now it’s even worse, because when you hang it up, the doorbell “hangs” in the connected mode for well over a minute, so they are unable to ring it again. Not that they would; they’d be long gone after ringing a doorbell, waiting several minutes with no sound and no one coming to the door, and the inability to ring it again.

Honestly, these all need to be recalled and taken back to engineering. The idea is totally awesome, and if it actually worked, I’d love it. But it’s seriously worse than a regular doorbell. Just awful.

I have a Doorbot. Mounted on a brick wall, hard wired to my door bell, about fifty feet from my newly upgraded router. ( Asus AC 68R ) initially the thing was terrible, blobs for video and low volumes on audio. With the router upgrade it’s almost acceptable. I have been in contact with their support which usually takes a good 24 hrs to respond. According to John they plan another firmware push this month to improve performance… We’ll see.

Anyone have any updates on the use of this device? I have had a lot of tech support in recent weeks, but not sure that the issues are resolved
