@akashk, thanks for the link. Did you get the email newsletter with the code? Is anything else on sale with that code? I tried adding a few other things to my cart, but the discount didn’t increase.

Thanks again!

@Intrepid, First of all, the Monster Scene Controller find was great, I ordered 5 and love the 2 Leviton units I already have. If they work just like the Levitons I will be very happy. So keep the deals coming!

As for the HA01C, see the lively discussion about the HA01 which appear to have the same specs. I decided not to install it because of my concerns for a space heater or high current device being plugged in.

Leviton appears to make a solid , but expensive, receptacle

I agree! Thank you Intrepid for the heads-up to the Monster Sale. I have opened only 1 of the 8 that I bought and so far I am very happy with it. It does what I need it to do and triggers my scenes fairly reliably, I think any limitations or quirks aren’t the fault of the scene controller and probably lie with Vera or Z-Wave. I haven’t check to see if any were DOA, but I am thrilled with the opportunity to get some of these in my system. I love that they can be located anywhere that I want to cut-in a wall box with power, like my bedside (easy as there is already an outlet under each bedside table). Thanks again, and keep the deals coming.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for using the Z-Wave receptacles? Are you using them for killing the Vampire power devices, automating coffeemakers, or someother use? I haven’t found a good use for them in my set-up yet.

We use them for odd stuff. There’s a “charging station” out in garage for all the cordless drills, line trimmers, etc. There’s no reason to power that 24/7, so it comes on about 6am and shuts down about dark. I have one where Linda plugs in the heating pad for her back. She tries to do about 30 minutes of dry heat every evening, so I have it coming on about when we finish dinner, and shutting off about 10–so if she fails to switch it off, it doesn’t run all night. Suppose I could set it up so she turns it on by hand at the outlet, and have Vera notice the event and count it down for her and shut it off when her 30 minutes is up.

And we have one installed for one of our irrigation controllers–makes it easy to do an emergency power cut to the controller, which stops all the valves.

Yeah, I got the SlickDeals notification also. I picked up 2 of them even though I need them in absolutely no way. I actually have a couple GE receptacles left over from the Radio Shack I will not be a spammer that I’m still trying to find uses for.

EDIT:

I didn’t write " will not be a spammer". I’m assuming that was inserted by the board as a misunderstanding of what I actually typed.

an even better deal on the 12 pc kit… less than $5/ea shipped!

Yep, +1. Have a bunch of them (the GE outlets, not Intermatic) in the shed and the garage, for chargers, tools and some task lighting. Easy to shut down the shed at night that way.

FWIW, the pointer to the Z-Wave Retailer page. And a recent experience.

Is anyone using these outdoors? That is the most obvious good use for me. I would probably need to get some of those weatherproof enclosures on a couple of exterior outlets, but these are labeled ‘inside use only’ and are not ground fault protected.

They are NOT GFI outlets, you could install a GFI breaker to take care of that issue, and you will have to get the waterproof boxes and covers as well.

I ordered 2 sets of 6 for 12 total. I plan on installing them in my rental home with bedroom table lamps and tvs (6 total), plus tv related equipment like Wii, Also plan on having an air hockey table. My theory is I can turn them all off when the house is unoccupied and ensure no wasted electrical demand. Hopefully the system is very reliable for keeping them on when desired as I do not want them going on and off randomly. I expect to install cable tv boxes on the always on side to prevent turn on delays.

Think this is a good use for them or am I getting into potential trouble?

I do question why this brand is so much cheaper than the others. Even when not on sale. Anyone know?

I do not know why they are cheaper, but I have both the HomeSettings (intermatic) and GE outlets in service and have not had any problems with either of them.

after ordering (this will be the 3rd or 4th time from zwaveproducts.com) and receiving my 12 piece kit, i felt like i should report my positive experience with zwaveproducts.com

all of my 12 piece kit came in today, in new retail packaging shipping UPS.

Intermatic/HomeSetting has been out of the Z-Wave game for over 3 years now. The devices being currently being sold are discontinued/EOF inventory. The HA01C receptacles are 9.6 K and are not capable of communicating with Z-Wave Locks where the 45605 receptacle has a 40K speed and is Lock compatible - have both in my network 8)
