I’ve just noticed that I have bad Karma +4/-3
Does that mean that I’ve somehow upset/annoyed someone on here? To my knowledge I’ve always been polite, contributed where I can and asked valid questions.
You can’t draw a breath and not displease someone, somewhere. Especially on the internet. Don’t worry about it.
You just inhaled! Didn’t you? And then what, you’re gonna exhale and spew your toxic carbon emissions into our atmosphere? That’s so inconsiderate! ;D
Karma is utterly meaningless.
Someone will “smite” me for this post. I could not care less.
Actually, I ‘applauded’… but you were sailing very close to the wind with “toxic carbon”, since in reasonable quantities CO[sub]2[/sub] is not toxic and, in fact, it’s a vital greenhouse gas. However, spot on with “spew … emissions into our atmosphere”, since there is increasingly too much of it.
I’m just posting to see my own Karma… I’m too lazy to find one of my other posts.
A rating of +4/-3 doesn’t mean you’ve upset or annoyed someone. It means you’ve upset or annoyed three people… or one person, three times. Or some other combination thereof. A badge of honor, as far as I’m concerned.
This Karma ‘Feature’ would be a lot more useful if it actually showed the poster a comment on why he was smited or Applauded. That way they know what they did wrong or right and ‘learn’ from it. As it is now, It’s a useless waste of space just causing confusion and possibly apprehension.
You don’t like my posts? There’s always the ‘complaints department’ clearly shown in my avatar if smiting does not do it for you.

LOL! since writing the post I’ve received three bad karma. Bring it on! I see what you mean about karma being utterly meaningless!
Did you make any other posts since then? If so, you could have been smited for any (or all) of those.
I’d bet that this thread alone is his source of ups and downs, since it draws attention specifically to his karma. But, old posts remain ripe for voting and “ballot stuffing” is also possible as you can Applaud/Smite the same post repeatedly.
If you’re gonna care about karma, be proud that your rate of increase in Applause exceeds your rate of increase in Smites. But, you’re better off not caring.
