Hello,
Was about to pull the trigger on C4, but then realized what a closed-off system it was from a DIY standpoint.
I would like to run a “wireless” z-wave HA network - what I mean is that aside from z-wave band communication, no other wireless signals should be present. Therefore, there will be no wi-fi. The problem is that I haven’t come across any wall mount display panels that utilize ethernet communications. No iOS device has an ethernet port and I have yet to come across an android tablet that supports ethernet. Is there something, like Control4’s display panel that has an ethernet port and can display some sort of interface to micasaverde? Ideally, the display device would be POE, but I don’t mind pulling power wires to the ethernet location already in the wall. I would even be willing to compromise and go with Z-Wave communication to the device, but I can’t believe that the only option is 802.11x communication from such a display.
thanks
I guess you could build one from a Fit-PC and a USB touchscreen with displaylink.
The other option could be a tablet with USB port, and the use a USB to Ethernet adapter perhaps?!
Thanks, but the first option would be overkill for just wanting a touchscreen display (not considering the fact that it would involve a lot of customization; e.g., how do I get those monitors out of sleep mode?) and then I would require custom LCD frames and each display in the house would then display the same things as all of the other displays as they are being accessed since they share the same source via displaylink. I was thinking about USB to ethernet, but those ports are not on the back of the tablet, so you would have them coming out the side. Someone has to have a solution for this – it’s so simple: an ethernet connection to a wall display.
Like strangely said, you can pick up an android tablet with a usb port (i know you stated it would be on the side) and mount it inside a nice picture frame. This will conceal the usb adapter and also the power cord and look good on the wall.

Ok GarretWP !
I will try this application in samsung galaxy tab and let you know…
is it paid or free ??
is some project to make this app for ipad / Iphone / Ipod ?
thank you !
There are other Apple tools you can use. I know nothing about them but if you scroll down the main page of the forum a little bit you will see an entire “Remote Control” section with many options. AutHomation just so happens to be about the best one for Android.
Thanks S-F for the comments. Glad you are still using it. The app is free.

since my old phone gets overheated when i have both screen and wifi on i hooked it up to a pc and use the usb cable for internet … works fine. to add to possible sollutions. the greenwave reality also has a panel wich uses z-wave, not to sure if it is sold separatly.
something like this http://www.eguestcontrols.com/products/director-series-controllers/lcd-1/ is also nice
