Zwave switch to control a garbage disposal

I have a 3/4HP garbage disposal and I’m looking for a way to control it via zwave, this way I eliminate a child from being able to power it up.

The Aeotec DSC24 (according to the manual) can handle a 15 Amp load. It plugs into an existing outlet.
The Aeotec DSC16 (according to the manual) can handle a 15 Amp load. It also plugs into an existing outlet.
There is no mention on the unit about a max HP, only that it supports a resistive load of 1875 Watt

Most in-wall switches and outlets only support a 1/2 HP motor so I doubt those will work.

This will easily handle what you want to do.

Isn’t that intended for 240V AC rather than 120V? At least that’s what the manual seems to spec it out as. http://cache-m2.smarthome.com/manuals/75521.pdf

It has the ability to switch two hot wires, which are 120v each. More than likely the unit itself draws power from just one hot wire (the L1 input). People have reported they didn’t even connect a neutral and it worked fine, don’t forget it’s simply activating some heavy duty internal relays (function is similar to a single pole GE binary light switch)

Cheaper alternative is the Linear module, rated up to 1HP

Thanks guys! The FS20Z-1 seems the best solution for my setup.

If I connect the FS20Z-1 before my wall outlet would one of the blue wires go the the Hot wire on the wall outlet and the other blue wire to the white wire of the wall outlet? And I’m guessing the ground will just go to the 120V ground with the FS20Z-1 ground wire.

No!

In this case one blue goes to the Line, with the black. The second blue(Load) goes to the Line side of the outlet, where the line use to be.

The white on the outlet remains and the white from the FS20Z-1 is added to it.

you seem to be having a great experience with using a garbage disposal in the kitchen , i was looking to buy best garbgae disposal for my new home could someone suggest me which is the best and good quality garbage disposal?
