Zwave project (help of experient users)

Hello I’m trying mount my automation home…

I will try use vera3… but…

  1. I need touch panels…at least 2 (1 on the front door and another in my bedroom) how can I use with vera3 and what model ?

  2. If I use a touch panel like 6280i honeywell ( I read it is a controller too) the devices included in honeywell will be included and controlled by vera3 too ??? or one time included in one controller not possible be controled by another ???

  3. vera3 creates a wifi net with zwave devices, can I use another router to give internet wifi access in my home or only thru vera3 ???
or both will exists …wifi for internet and vera3 created net.

  4. if I have in my bedroom a handheld controller for easy acess without have to use a cell phone or tablet, can I create and use devices to be controlled even this devices be controlled too by vera3 ?

this is my questions , after I will say what devices I plan to buy in the next days.

sorry by my english, I’m brazilian

thanks
and regards for all.

Sylvester

I can not answer everything but some:

  1. The wireless network which is used to control zwave devices has nothing to do with a normal wlan. It’s working on a seperate frequency and it can only be used by zwave devices. In addition to that the vera can also provide a normal wlan to provide wireless acces to the vera and whatever is connected to it (just like a normal wlan router). This option can also be disabled. So yes you can provide your wlan with another router, does not have to be done by vera.

  2. You can control your devices in many different ways. For example you can basically control you lights from your normal in wall light switch, but you can also control it by a motion sensor, or you can make it timed, or you can use simple remotes (i.e. Aeotec MiniMote), and endless other possibilities…

Somebody else will have to answer the rest of your question, it’s Friday evening and I am going out for a beer. 8)

Great !!!
Perfect…my mind is turning in a clear mind now…
thanks chixxi…
Enjoy your beer…I would like do the same…
I will wait by anothers.

Please, correct me if I’m wrong…

an equipment like Vera3 functions basically for…
manager my zwave devices and concentrate in a program to easy operation of all and create scenes and another resources…but…
to activate this scenes I need: an iphone or another cell phone web or app capable…

I have seen to sale in many websites anothers funny controllers to have in hands…are named: controllers…
my question is if I can use this anothers controllers even having a vera3 system installed in my home with your powerfull of operations.

I think now is more clear one of my doubt.
thanks.

  1. The only touch panel that I know of would be the honeywell (expensive and limited), other options are to use tablets like android or ipad to control vera via 3rd party applications.

  2. You can have the honeywell act as a secondary controller, however it will not be perfect as from what I read in another thread, if a device is activate on the honeywell, it may not reflect on vera right away and vera would have to poll the device to get the current status. This will not be instantaneous.

You can activate scenes from via via multiple ways, either via a handheld remote like a minimote or ge zwave remote, via Vera’s web interface or via 3rd party apps on your phone or tablet. You can also have the scenes run on a schedule and so forth.
