ZTW230, Wall Transmitter

I added this device to my Vera 2 network as ZTW230 (I live in the UK and this is a European device)

Checking under the advanced tab it is showing as using the device_file D_SceneController1.xml

I want this switch to control 3 lamps, each of which has its own dimmable lamp switch

So I set up a scene called Lights On. In the commands tab I set up the three lights to switch on. In the events tab I set up:

An event called ZTW230on
Pick the Device shown as ZTW230
Choose A scene is activated for the trigger setting
And after much experimentation use the scene number of 0

And hey presto the lights switch on

I tried then to add another scene (where the scene is deactivated) to turn off the lights and could not get it to work.

After much more experimentation and examining the log files I changed the original scene to:

In the commands tab set the three lights to switch off. In the events tab I:

left the event set to ZTW230on
left the Device as ZTW230
left the scene is activated for the trigger setting
And used the scene number of 255

And the lights switch off

So I have a device that can either switch on the lights or switch off the lights but not both, as I cannot have two scenes set both set to show A scene is Activated with different scene settings.

Can anyone help - am I doing something wrong?

It sounds like Vera is reacting correctly to both switch positions. Did you try to set up the following:

  • Scene “lights on”, triggered by an event ZTW230, “a scene is activated”, scene #0
  • Scene “lights off”, triggered by an event ZTW230, “a scene is activated”, scene #255

From what you have described, this should work.

By the way, nice to know the ZTW230 is scene capable. I’ll have to go and order a few if you can get it to work :slight_smile:

So earlier during my testing - I did have two scenes set up and was editing them to try and get the second scene to accept the off setting with 255 as the scene number, and it wouldn’t take it.

Once I read your post, I tried again, this time starting with a fresh scene and entering the data - all lights off and scene number 255 and (thanks to you for making me try one more test) IT WORKS!

That’s two evenings of hacking around and checking logs and I now have what I want.

Sweet, that means I’ll be ordering a couple of these switches. I’ve been looking hard for a working Euro zwave scene controller.

I’m also a zwave newbie by the way… and so far I’ve had plenty of “hacking around” evenings. Frustrating, but all the more gratifying when it finally does work :slight_smile:

I have the Aeon Labs Minimote and Homepro Controller ZTH200 gathering dust, as I couldn’t get them to work to control scenes, so the ZTW230 is the third SC I have tried. So may go back and look at the other two again!

That, unfortunately, sounds like known bug #1478.
