Zmodo with vera?

Anyone successfully used Zmodo with vera? I’m debating on buying a package from cctvhotdeals.com.

Please share your experience?

What brand security camera/dvr do you guys recommend to ue with vera?

Bump: Anyone?

Keep in mind you will want a dedicated NVR (Network Video Recorded) that is stand alone. For this you have 2 options, you can use a system like Synology which is a NAS that will record from cameras but this gets expensive as they charge you for each camera license or you can get a NVR software like BlueIris for $49 and put it on a PC.

I went with BlueIris and have loved it. I also installed this at 3 other locations, one with 16 cameras on a i7 machine which never goes over 30% CPU. The software will let you set triggers and alarms, mine records on motion triggers and send me iOS alerts. I was doing emails and text messages but got tired of having to go through and delete them.

For the camera’s I went with Foscam 9810w’s & 8921’s (1.3mp H.264) since they have 5 of my “must haves” in a camera: 1)Pan and Tilt. 2) Night Vision, 3) Network Based Camera, 4) 2-way audio, 5) WiFi capable. They have PoE versions as well which I love when it is possible. By the way if you have a chance to run a network cable instead of going WiFi… DO IT!!! You will find complaints in all Forums about the Foscam camera’s but I’m telling you for the price you will not find a camera with the quality and capabilities of the 9810w anywhere, only $70 a camera or the 8921 for about $120 a camera.

If you want a higher quality and don’t mind paying a little more I would suggest the Dahau camera’s, the video I have seen from them is outstanding.

Vera will pick up the Foscam camera’s as a camera and motion detector, so you basically get visual / audio and motion sensor for $70.

I have seen these around the net and they do seem to have great video for a reasonable price.
Have you gotten one working with vera?

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the excellent write up

Will any NVR integrate easily with vera? Would something like this work?

Here is another that may work?
