X10 Cameras

Is it possible to use the USB port of Vera to store video?

What about support for something like this?

X10 PC Video/USB 2.0 Adapter Kit

The PC Video/USB 2.0 Adapter Kit (Model VA11A) allows you to connect any X10 camera to your PC so you can view live video on your computer. It contains a USB connector on one end (plugs into USB port on your PC) and RCA cable on other end. Simply plug the RCA Cable into the Video Receiver (for Wireless cameras such as XCam2) or plug the camera (Anaconda, NightWatch) into the RCA Cable.

Currently, Vera doesn’t handle video by itself. What it does do is to grab static images from an IP camera, by simply downloading a JPEG at a given URL.

That “Video/USB Adapter kit” sounds like transforming any standard video signal into a USB webcam. Unfortunately, there’s no real webcam standard, each one is different. It would be very difficult to support more than a limited subset.

Thanks, Javier. I’ll archive this one in the back of my mind for the time being.
