Has anybody tried this sensor with Vera? http://www.smarthome-products.com/p-1087-fortrezz-wwa-001-wireless-water-and-freeze-alarm.aspx - it looks interesting.
yes they work well with vera. Temp shows as deg C although. It is hopeful that Micasa will fix that.
Some of us wouldn’t consider that broken

ok a bug then. I have one and it works great.
Since I don’t remember celciu very well It’s tough to use it for temp.
It’s not too bad to get used to. Just remember 3 temps, and base everything from there:
0 deg C = freezing point of water
20-22 deg C = room temperature
100 deg C = boiling point of water

I just got one. Vera decided it was a “motion sensor” and it was easy to set up a scene for it. It detects water and shortly Vera alerts me.
Is there a better way to install it and how do I read temperature (in any units)?
While on the subject are there other cheap and easy ways to monitor temperature in rooms in the house?
thanks,
jv
The FortrezZ WWA-01 http://www.asihome.com/ASIshop/product_info.php?products_id=3944 will show temperature and the HomeManageables HM-TS001 http://www.asihome.com/ASIshop/product_info.php?products_id=3946 is a Z-Wave temperature sensor as well. The HM-TS001 may have to be added by MiCasaVerde though.
Have you tried it unsuccesfully?
I doub’t that it would not work!
I have not tried it, that was more of a CYA comment.
Thanks,
It should mostly work out of the box with Vera. Vera does not filter devices like Schlage and Hawking and Homemanegables. Fortrezz worked out of the box before MV had a chance to even look at one.
That’s what is so great about Vera.
They try harder to comply with the Zenys code.
What temperature does this thing report, an ambient temperature, or it has a wired sensor?..
The device measures temperature and alarms when it is freezing. It can function stand-alone but with z-wave it can trigger alerts. it is supposed to report temperature but I don’t see how to get it.
To recap I did get it to install as a vera device fine but vera sees it as a motion device. It will trigger scenes are a motion device will when it senses water. I tested this. I assume a similar thing will happen with freezing.
The device is a tiny “brick” you just lay on the floor of the basement, there is no separate hookup for temperate probe so reading basement floor temperature may not be the best but at about $35 it isn’t too bad a for sensor to leave several of them around the house.
I appreciate the link to the other sensor, I suspect it might be more what I want in a sensor. I wanted this one to leave with the de-humidifier and trigger when there is a problem.
So my main question is can I change the device type to something other than motion and how do i read the temperature?

Has anyone inquired whether the WWA-001 actually is measuring ambient (air) temperature, or (less usefully, to be sure) the temp. of the floor it rests on? Perhaps the two are indistinguishable in most cases, but certainly not in all.
Neat device… once I learn more, I’m apt to get one for our water heater’s drip pan (in the attic, of all places!). It would also amuse me to know how hot it is up there!
For anyone who owns or is interested in the WWA-001 sensor, here’s the online manual:

Has anyone successfully installed the HomeManageables TS001:
