I have a 2GIG-CNTRL1-345 security control panel installed by Vivint and I am looking at installing a home automation system that I can integrate with the Vivint system. I’ve read other forums about this and it looks like there is no way to get Vera and 2gig to communicate via z-wave. But is it possible to set up the security panel to close a relay (controlled by z-wave) under different conditions, such as arming the security system, or the security system going into alarm, and then wiring the relay into a binary input for the Vera system to look at, which in turn can trigger a process in Vera? I really don’t care about being able to see what doors are open or closed, I would just like to see when the system in “Armed-Stay”, “Armed-Away” and “Intrusion Alarm”.
interesting. I was looking to add the Vera to my current 2Gig panel. Where did you read it might be a problem? thanks
There have been many post about this panel and integrating into Vera. There is no way to have Vera communicate with the panel via zwave and there is no interface to allow Vera to communicate with the panel via an api.

guess its a good thing I did not waste my time. so cant I just buy a Vera and disable my Zwave in my 2GIG panel?
Ok, so if you want a monitored alarm system, is there any point in also having a Vera? It seems the two are mutually exclusive.
If you want 2Gig, yes.
There are MANY MANY alarms you can setup and use with Vera. You will be able to setup central monitoring in various different ways. I am in the process of installing my DSC 1832 with an EnvisaLink adapter. That will allow me to integrate my security system with Vera and do central monitoring. If I wanted to do cell monitoring, I could do that as well.
It all depends on what your end goal is. There is very little point in having a Vera if you get something like a Vivint 2gig system installed. You will just be stuck with the bare minimum capability of the 2gig system.
I will be paying $10/month for monitoring and have free access to my security system and automation with Vera. You won’t find anything comparable from companies like ADT, Vivint, or Brinks.
Thank you. Good information, and the names you mentioned will give me a good place to start researching.
jleonar, What alarm company are you going with? Also, does this alarm system fully integrate with Vera? For example, can I get immediate reports back on the status of motion sensors and door sensors?
Thanks very much in advance.

Offhand, you can do third party monitoring with geoarm.com/ or alarmrelay.com.
Yes, if you have an Envisalink EVL-3 (also known as 3DS), you can get instant status of your sensors online. If you integrate the envisalink 3 to vera, which is supported by the DSC plugin, you can check status of everything, zwave and alarm via vera apps.
Here’s a summary:

Awesome! Thanks very much. Your summary post and thread is very helpful… If anyone knows about that $10 a month cellular alarm company, please let me know.
Happy to help. The companies I listed below are almost in the $10/month range. I think around $12 or so. I plan to sign with one of them soon myself.
This is a reply to silencery. I cant write you back as I only have 13 posts. can you send me an email with a return address?
