Wireless Sensor Tag System

This looks interesting. Integration with Vera would be fantastic. Monitor and Find Everything from the Internet - Wireless Sensor Tags

Good, they are much cheaper than z-wave so hopefully competition will drive down the price goudging z-wave has forced! If z-wave soon doesnt drop in price this new tag or google will come out with a system which will be cheap enough to flood the market with a new solution.

Once they expose an API it’ll get interesting. There are several other vendors that do similar stuff, also without API, so it’s probably going to be a race for that to be available as the real differentiator.

It looks like the developer has released some API information and is introducing a URL calling feature (http://wirelesstags.myshopify.com/blogs/news). Hopefully this platform gets picked up by the MiOS developer community!

I ordered this system and should have it in the next couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to playing with it. I did see some API info has been released. Not sure if it is enough to start integration with Vera?

Looks good, and the API appears to be simple enough to integrate with Vera as a plugin. Unfortunately, they seem to have run out of stock already :-\

Ordering mine today… Yup. Looks like October delivery

I was thinking of a use case to be able to see when the dog, kids, cars etc leave the house and come back in the evening. But that does not seem to be supported from what I can read on their site:
“Tag Manager transmits an acknowledgement response back to each Tag. When the Tag does not receive the acknowledgement, it repeats the status information transmission for up to 16 times before giving up.”
Please let me know if you find a work around for this while testing.

I made an order as well. looking forward to integrate this with Vera (somehow)… Should be doable with the API they published.

my understanding is that it’s possible to do the scenario you mentioned – you get notified when the tag is out of range, and when it’s back in range.

I hope that’s the way… Keep us posted on the progress

Did anyone get theirs yet?? Very interested in this and possible integration with vera

not yet. they seem to have a large backlog of orders :frowning:

just got my order shipped email! Has anyone else received theirs yet? Interested if there will be a way to integrate this into Vera?

Not sure if they have an API that a plugin could work with to expose it as a temp/motion sensor, but it does appear that you can have it send a URL to a custom address, and this means that you can in theory trigger anything on Vera like a light or a scene very easily.

they published an API: http://caogadgets.com/media/mytaglist.com/apidoc.html so in principal it’s possible to develop a plugin.

I also ordered and received them, but didn’t get a chance to play with mine, as I am out of town. Any first impressions so far?

Got mine yesterday.

Yet to try it out.

Quick look at the API states that you have to send an ASP.NET authentication cookie to each web service call. Whilst I could do this in Windows, not sure how I would do this in Vera.

Has anyone had any luck with this?

I got mine today, and without too much effort got it to trigger scenes in Vera via a URL call. For anyone wanting to do the same, from their website you can set this up along with other things like twitter and email notifications.

If you want to trigger a scene in Vera, you just need to know the scene number to call, and which remote access server you are connected to, and use the following example:

https://fwd2.mios.com///<vera_serial#>/data_request?id=lu_action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=RunScene&SceneNum=X
The above is assuming you are on fwd2, otherwise it will be fwd1 instead.

Latency is a few seconds or so, but it works!

For anyone considering one of these things, the guys that designed this thing have put an amazing amount of effort and thought into it and I highly recommend it for anyone interested!

I’m quite blown away by what can be achieved in such a small package, since the tag manager is tiny!

Now to put some of my tags (I bought 3) to good use as monitors for the important stuff like keys, wallet (when lost) and my child who’s just discovered how to escape out of the door and thinks its funny! I might even monitor the wife too

I think a good use for this would be to Arm or Disarm an Alarm system, or trigger home or away scenes if a tag was carried on a bunch of keys, or in a car etc. I will have to experiment around, but I think this could be achieved with the count down or programmable logic plugins perhaps.

Thanks for the update. That is very good knews that you promote the use but no sure about some of the planned usage. Like you identify with your child, I have the same issue and having three children under four, it is always fun. So, this one I can definetly understand and as we about to move into a house with a pool, I can also see monitoring the pool gate with this as a very good choice. I’m now trying to decide what is best fit between this and alarm sensors given the capabilities these sensor provide.
