Can anyone shed some light on this? Spent a couple of grand on the Vera3 + Devices and now I have no internet. At first I thought it was just a coincidence, but sure enough, I disconnect the Vera and voila, the Internet is back. Reconnect the Vera and internet is gone, slow, or very spotty as if the Vera was sucking the life out of my connection like a bandwidth sucking vampire.
I contacted vera support and they did some behind the scenes advanced tech configurations and it seemed to work better for that day, but back to it’s old self.
Some more info about your specifics might help such as:
How is it connected, and what hardware is upstream like the router etc (if applicable)?
What sort of connection do you have? (provider etc)
What Firmware version are you running?
Vera has had some issues with killing the odd device here and there since it does some snooping on your network. You’ll want to turn that option off in the net and WiFi tab by un-checking the “Auto detect devices on my home network” box… presuming you have that option, and its not already off!
There was also an issue a while back I think where it was replacing what your DHCP server had issued as a DNS server with itself… although I think thats fixed now.
Maybe you can fix this in the network settings. Disable DHCP, Wireless Lan when not needed. It could as well be a DNS problem see http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,9895.0.html.
Using the Comcast provided router for internet connection then ethernet cable to Vera3 (cable goes from upstairs to downstairs)
Using the latest UI5 (just bought the Vera)
I have about half a dozen Insteon light dimmer, a Z-Wave Kwickset deadbolt, I have another half a dozen Insteon dimmers and sensors to install along with waiting for the SQ Blaster to arrive.
Interesting thing is, when I do try to troubleshoot the network connection from my pc, it shows that I am connected to the internet, but then gives me some kind of DNS issue. I will look into the DNS issue link you’ve provided.
Also, other interesting thing is that my wifi seems to still work fine. It’s just the my PC that slows down or gets spotty and disconnects. My PC is plugged in for maximum reliability and speed since I work from home.
