Maybe so… But my Vera 3 had functionality lacking in the new controller… It’s a step backwards.
Does your VERA 3 have z-wave plus? So I guess depending on how you look at both controllers are lacking in some ways. One thing tho the Edge can get a software update down the road and fix its issues. Where as the VERA 3 can never be upgraded with the new z-wave spec.
Unfortunately, after i updated my new vera edge the devive gave errors: cannot write user data… I tried restoring old back ups but also that does not work. I’ll now do a factory reset as a last option… Luckily I’m only a starting user with three devices but I imagine when you have tons of devices and scenes set up it would be a real pain. I hope this will go better in the future…
The Zwave+ is why I bought the Vera Edge. I hope they get the bugs out soon… Also l Hope the device can connect wirelessly to my LAN soon.
Yesterday Mios support dropped me a line:
"We apologize for the issues you?ve been encountering.
We?ve discovered an incompatibility in the usb drivers on the OpenWrt platform that is used by the Vera Edge.
Our colleagues from development are working on it right now and should release a patch and in the first weeks of January to fix this.
If you?ve been on UI7 for some time you?ve probably noticed that the interface has evolved over time, and each monthly update brings fixes along with improvements.
Thank you for your patience. "
This is pretty unbelievable product management. I can only imagine that a company ships such an untested product when in desperate need of cash before the Christmas sales.
Anyway I’m returning my Vera Edge to my kind supplier. My Raspberry PI Domoticz is back up and running again. Mios can learn a lot from this open source development.
