I am looking for a motion detector to just turn on some lights on motion. Does anyone have any recommendations, just want it to work!
Thank You

The only z-wave motion sensor I’ve used is the Intermatic CA9000. It works pretty well once it is properly configured, but it can be flaky to get configured. I’m not sure I would recommend it, though.
Great, thank you, will order a couple today and let the fun begin!
I have a motion sensor Z1R000 and created a scene that when it is triggered, one of my lights in the family room will turn on for 1 minute.
There seems to be only a few available motion sensors to be able to purchase (US);
[ul][li]HSM100[/li]
[li]CA9000[/li]
[li]Z1R000[/li][/ul]
I have a HSM100 and several CA9000’s of the two the HSM100 seems to work better. I agree with @Intrepid the CA9000 is flaky to get configured in UI4. I notice that my battery life on the HSM100 far exceeds my CA9000. The reason I purchase a number of CA9000 was cost they were $40 vs $80 for HSM100 but the HSM100 also has temp and light sensing capabilities.
It would be nice to hear from the rest of the user community as to their experiences and recommendations. Mike

The aeon labs multisensor should be another option…sometime? I believe it is also rated for outdoor use.
Does the HSM100 report all sensors to Vera or just the motion part of it? Any user having this if you could confirm this I’d totally appreciate it .
The reason I’d like to know is this is what it says on home seer site (They almost make it sound like only the motion part is z-wave capable??? - Not sure)
“HSM100 is primarily intended as a motion sensor and is supported as a motion sensor by all Z-Wave certified systems. However, HSM100 can also function as a temperature sensor and light sensor when used with any HomeSeer system!”

Search for some posts by user flyboybob. he had alot of trouble getting this to work with Vera and ultimately bought homeseer.
I kind of like the HSM100s. I just set them up and wired them for AC. Really nice and not too bad to configure.
I would not recommend anything by Aeon by the way.

I use the ZIR000. It works well and I haven’t had any issues with battery life. I use it to trigger a camera.
Greg
All sensors. Note that the light level can also be used internally by the sensor to not trigger when the light is above a set level. I find this a very useful feature.

@oTI@ : So you have the HSM100 working well with vera without issues?
…Home Automation is nice when you’ve the right devices in your network
@Kristopher - I might 've to do this, provided they sensors integrate well with Vera.

I do have a question though:
Instead of a 5 V AC/DC adapter and all that If I hook up directly to 110V will that make the sensors more powerful? (Just joking…)
