I have a Veralite running various lights and other appliances around the house. I also have a monitored alarm system that uses a Honeywell vista panel box. Does the EnvisaLink3 connect the two so that I can create scenes based on the armed status of the alarm system, or am I misunderstanding what it does?
The EVL 3 is the “hardware” part of a bridge between Vera and either a DSC or a Honeywell Alarm system.
This bit of hardware needs to be matched with a corresponding [Vera] Plugin that maps the stuff into Vera.
Right now, the EVL 3 Hardware only has a Plugin for the DSC Alarm Panels.
Once you’re running an Alarm System Plugin, you can use your Alarm system sensors as if they were Z-Wave contact’/motion sensors, and also know when you’ve armed (and allow remote arming) of a house. This allows you to, for example, shut things down when you leave (for power savings, etc)
for the ademco vista panels you will need the ad2usb interface and the ademco ad2usb plugin for your vera. to see if your panel is compatible go here http://www.nutech.com/index.php?task=view&id=7&option=com_easyfaq&Itemid=84
