Ok, so my Schlage Deadbolt reports 1% battery remaining, in the GUI. This is probably after 6mos or so, so I can believe that. Except it still works fine, and has been reporting 1% for well over a week now.
When I use the lock keypad, it does blink orange I think, which I believe must mean low battery?
I’m wondering, the 1% reported in the GUI, is it meaningless? Is it the 9V? Is it the AAs? From what I’ve been able to learn, the 9V controls the mechanicals, and the AAs are for the ZWave. So based on that, I assume the 1% GUI reporting is for the AAs? But I get every single SMS notification still when the keypad is used, so therefore the ZWave is still working flawlessly as well.
I know I should just replace both sets of batteries while I am at it, but as most of you know, these Schlage locks are kind of finicky, and my experience changing the batteries has not been good thus far. I mean losing lock sync, having to remove from door, etc. Not fun.
Sorry if this is old news, I searched but couldn’t find anything…
Well, I replaced just the 3 AA batteries. Battery level in the GUI now report 94%. So I guess the battery level reported in the GUI is the level of the AAs. I guess the 9-volt is an unknown…
I think I will leave the 9volt there as long as possible to see if there is any way to tell via the GUI or lights on the keypad that the 9volt is dying…
The battery icon for one of my Schlage locks indicated a very low battery level as did the battery status (1%) on “Settings” tab. I had my guest change both the AA and 9V batteries. Now, my battery indicator for is black for that device on my dashboard but when I check the battery status on the “Settings” tab, it says 100%. I can’t add new pins. If the AA battery level is reflected by the battery icon on the dashboard and the AA batteries power the connection to my zwave controller, it makes sense that I cant add pins but why would the battery status read 100%? Could the icon pertain to the AA batteries and the % on the tab pertain to the 9v?
