Anyone have any experience with the Wayne-Dalton Gateway and vera ?
I already own a converter and keychain remote, wouldn’t mind triggering a vera scene with the gateway.
I saw the keychain remote on another site. Would love to know if you could program that with Vera to open/close a garage, run an arrival scene and run a leaving scene from the three buttons. Almost bought one just to try.
the keychain remote is not a Z-wave device, (as I found out after I had purchased it. )
It is configurable to do a combination of four commands ( e.g 1 opener and 3 scenes)
The gateway appears to provide translation from the opener commands to z-wave
Ah, good thing then that I didn’t buy it.
I guess we’ll have to wait for someone else to comment on the working combination for the Wayne-Dalton gateway and Vera.
We aren’t likely to find any z-wave device to control a garage door any time soon - it’s illegal as of now, you can search on http://www.zwaveworld.com/forum/ for more info.
Thanks. Hadn’t thought of those angles on the topic.
Was thinking more of being able to trigger a lighting scene from vera with the gateway. as opposed to a lighting scene in the gateway.
why is it illegal?

I have the Wayne-Dalton gateway and am using it to interface between my car’s built-in Homelink transmitter and my Z-Wave network. Button 1, all lights on, Button 2, all lights off.
Will use Button 3 to 'arm" the motion sensors/camera once we have all those sorted out in Vera.

Hey guys I’m new to zwave and vera. the only device I can not get to work is the Wayne Dalton gateway. I succesfuly added it as a controler but when I try and add a scene it does not work. fThe scene config is as follows
event type= “scene button is pressed”
what device= “wayne gateway”
button pressed=“1”
The scene works from the dashboard but not from the gateway itself.
I am having the same problem as cpapakon… Configured the gateway for button presses and not scenes. Scenes work in Vera’s dashboard but not on the gateway.
I haven’t even tried to set up the Car Homelink remote yet. Hopefully that won’t give me grief.
Any ideas on how you fixed this cpapakon (or anyone else)?
I recall seeing something on the wiki about having to connect the gateway twice, once to connect it, and once to download the settings or something like that. I will look again and see if I can find it.
Edit:
I looked and can’t find it. Not sure where I saw that, but I know i saw it somewhere.
Edit2:
I found what I was thinking of, but it pertains to the Leviton Scene Controller, maybe the process of it will work the same. http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Leviton_Scene_Controller
Boyo,
What you mention does seem familiar. I think it had something to do with Battery Operated vs Plugin… I need to start popping some Ginko Biloba pills…
I will try it out and see what happens.
EDIT: Ok, it appears that didn’t have any effect on the results. Still not working. However, I did notice in the manual’s troubleshooting section that you can determine if the controller thinks it is a primary or secondary. I keep getting solid lights that tell me the controller is a primary. I must not be adding it to Vera right…
Ok, I am obviously an idiot who can’t follow instructions. I read them a hundred times but a week later, I came back and read them twice. In my defense, the instructions could be more clear but they technically correct though.
Once you add the gateway controller, you must go back and add it again (I know, doesn’t make sense but it works). The second time it is added (WITHOUT deleting it), Vera will say that node XX is recognized and scenes are now being copied over.
Stupid me and wasting about 4 hours on this… I hate when I do that to myself. Best of luck not missing the same obvious statements I missed.
The 2x, is required for the WD handheld remotes as well.
