Waterproof Gate Opening Sensor

Anyone know of a waterproof magnetic door sensor? I’m adding some fence gates and I want to alert when the gates are open? I’m planning to put a standard door/window sensor in an outdoor box but I thought I’d ask first.

Thanks

While this is a weekend project coming up over the holidays, I am doing the same thing, I purchased a Schlage RS100HC because you can add external sensors to the device (I have a wooden gate so I am going to embed the magnetic sensor in the wood) and put the device in a weatherproof box project box. Post some pictures when you are done! Interested to see how other have done this.

Thanks, I don’t recall ever seeing such a thing but I thought I’d query the collective intelligence here

I’m leaning toward an single gang PVC outdoor surface mount box for the Schlage or the lower cost EcoLink version.

Photos when I do it

Aeon makes one too. It is battery operated.

I think your question left out the part that it had to be a battery operated, weatherproof, z-wave sensor?

I just use outdoor normal contacts then hide a wire over to the sensor mounted out of the weather. Pool gate has a Electrical box next to it and wires run into there where the sensor is.

I have hollow square tubing gate that I can run wires all the way down to the nearest wall or such to hid a sensor.

Good point. This one will be battery operated, no easy cable access.
