I’m trying to choose between buying another FortrezZ WWA-01 Water Sensor or alternatively go with something else, like HomeManageables HM-FS001… The price is pretty much the same.
I used to have a WWA-01 before and it worked fine, until it started buzzing. I got a new battery for it, but it doesn’t help. I guess it got some water in it during the last leak it detected, so it’s probably busted. Repairing it would require sending it back to FortrezZ, paying for shipping both ways. With the price of the unit around $35 sending it back and forth is not worth it…
So, is there anyone who tried HomeManageables Flood Detection Sensor with Vera? Does it work? Are there any problems? Thanks.
I bought two FortrezZ WWA-01 from HomeSeer , one is working and one arrived defective. HomeSeer stopped selling them because of repair issues. They were kind enough to replace the defective WWA-01 with a HomeManageables HM-FS001. I added it to the network and Vera detected it a a door lock and provided an on/off option. !?? So far I have not been able to get it to trigger an event.
It seems to be a very well built device and I like the idea that the device itself can be mounted on the wall while only the sensor is exposed to potential water. It uses 3 AA batteries, not those expensive ones in the FortrezZ WWA-01.
We will add support soon, for a lot of devices. We will have Luup plugins written for most of the devices listed on the forum and in the feature request.
This is good news. Fortrezz has a ton of new water detection, moisture etc. I’d like to be able to start testing and reviewing these when they are available, and of course, I’ll be using Vera. Thanks for giving us hope on these new water/irrigation devices.
Is the HomeManageables HM-FS001 supported yet? I need to get a flood sensor. Fortrezz is not good for me because it will get ruined in the event of a basement flood, so would like something that allows the unit to be kept above the water.
Are there any outdoor rated water/flood sensors in existence? If no, can one of you owners of the FS001 comment on if you think it an be “weatherized” to work outdoors?
Worth noting for those interested in the HM-FS001: While the product descriptions I’ve found online all state that this is for “indoor use only”, I was please do see the sensor that arrived is actually rated for indoor/outdoor use. It says so right on the packaging and upon closer inspection it is well weatherized with a rubber seal around the battery compartment, etc.
I intend to use this sensor in my outdoor sump (to ensure the pump hasn’t failed causing the water line to rise) that drains some below grade basement stairs. I was unsure how well it would work based on the production information I found online, but now that it is in hand I’m very confident it is the right solution.
