what do you recommend using for wall mountable touch screens? i thought about using some cheap android tablets but i dont want to have to press the “on” button to awake the screen, then click on the control app and then choose my appropriate command.
im also looking for a touchscreen i can use as an A/V remote, also a tablet preferably that doesnt have to be pressed to “awake” and then go into an app…i want a instant on type tabllet.
There are really no dedicated tablets for this purpose. You will most likely need to rely on an android tablet, or iOS device to have control of your vera. You can configure the android tablet to always stay on and have the app always loaded.
hmm that sounds like a solution, i just gotta find a way to mount these suckers on the wall lol
what do you recommend for A/V control? i need it to tie together on Zwave so i can control my devices with the SQ Blaster+…and also scene control for lighting, like if i hit play DVD and my lights are on i would want it to shut them off after 9PM etc…something like this would be cool if it was for zwave: http://www.control4.com/residential/products/interfaces/sr-250/
I especially didn’t care for the speakers on the right. It looks like there is a left and right on top of each other in a vertical column. I did like that this was an Ethernet device with POE. I think that’s clever. I’d really like a single or dual gang keypad with a few buttons and an LCD for controlling home automation and music.
The name escapes me, but I’m using a magnetic inductive charging wall mount for an iPad. No wires and running sqremote HD. Can pull it off the wall when I need to use it. Very cool except sqremote has been less than reliable for the last 2 months.

Garrett,
Do you have any recommendation on at 10" cheap android tablet to run your app? I only have iOS devices but I recently had a chance to check out you app on a tablet and it is just amazingly perfect.
I need to put 2 - 3 tablets on the wall and run your software. The reason Im asking, I am not a android guy so is there anything you would advise me to look out for before I pull the trigger? Does it have to be a 4.x tablet or is 2.3 fine as well?
For a 10inch tablet, it depends on where you are. How much are you looking to spend? A used Samsung 10.1 tablet or an Asus Transformer would work great. You may be able to find them new for cheap as well. If you can deal with the 7inch form factor, the Google Nexus 7 is a fantastic tablet. I love mine. It gets more use than my 10inch Asus transformer. I would avoid getting anything with Android 2.3 as it is an old OS and not meant for tablets. Anything with Android 3.1 or newer will work great. A lot of tablets now a days ship with Android 4.0 or newer. Their are many options.
If you go with something with Android 3.1 or newer, you’ll be able to take advantage of some more nifty features of my app. More or less better UI design to maximize the space for the devices. If you have any questions on a particular tablet you have in mind, let me know and I’ll try my best to help.
This is exactly what I’ve been planning to do. I’ve been trying to brainstorm ideas for mounting and charging, but haven’t come up with much. Ideally, there’d be some sort of inductive charging option available for the 7, but I don’t see that happening. There are some hacks out there, but I’d want something more solid
