Virtual 3-Way Switch Options

I am new to home automation and am ready to start experimenting with lighting control. I have a VeraLite and currently have only a Kwikset lock on the network. I have 2 exterior lights: Light # 1 lights the backyard and Light #2 lights my deck on the side of the house. Both lights have their own standard SPST switch (no 3-way), but in separate rooms.

Here is what I would like to accomplish, without adding any additional electrical wiring to the house:

1.Replace each switch with a Leviton VRS15-1LZ
2.Place a wireless keypad controller (GE 45632) and my preferred location - next to the exterior door where there is no AC power
3.Create a scene for each light so that when a button is pushed on the GE 45631 the respective light turns on.
4.The light could still be turned on/off from the Leviton VRS15-1LZ[/li][/list]

I guess what I am really looking for is battery operated switch that can be located anywhere and can control 2 separate lights.

Is my thinking straight? Are there any pitfalls to this setup? Is there a better or lower cost approach? Would I be wiser to actually run power to the desired location and install a 3-way switch?

I welcome any and all input.

Your plan should work just fine.

Be aware that while you will have no issue getting the 45632 to directly activate the VRS15-1LZ (assuming that it is within radio range of your Z-Wave network) some people have reported issues in getting the 45632 to activate Vera scenes.
