Honestly, while it looks impressive, I just don’t know if I want to rely on Verizon for the bulk of my HA functionality, especially if it involves things like Fios which will never be available at my vacation cabin out in the boonies in California. Trials in New Jersey? Who is the beta-tester, Snooki?

I have Fios and after a couple of years it’s pretty stable (I had a LOT of trouble with it) but I have a feeling this will be just as limiting as the Schlage system. I’m going to keep an eye on it but I suspect it’ll be more of a pet project for Verizon than a real HA for people that want more than the ability to turn lights on and off from work.

Nah, she’s not from Jersey. She’s just another BENNY (i.e. people from Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, NY). Wish she’d go home, summer’s over. >:(

Thanks for the link. A big FYI to everyone using FIOS, they have two free apps in the Apple App Store one for WiFi TV Remote Control and one for DVR managment. My wife loves them both even though you have to reconnect occasionally. The WiFi link to the cable box makes channel changes lightning fast. Also you’ll have a QWERTY keyboard for onscreen searches in the guide and a favorites section with all of your channel icons.

Cox showed me something similar at CES, but they’re waiting to join the wireless/cell business first before making it available.
