VeraPlus, Hue White Single Bulb - Not working

Hi,

I am starting HA with my new VeraPlus. I have a Linear WD500Z and GE Plug in dimmer working fine.

I was hoping to eliminate the plug in dimmer with the connected bulb. Being a newbie and seeing Zigbee is new to Vera I didn’t expect a slam dunk.

So I attempted it pair the Hue with Vera as a “generic Zigbee” device. The device was detected but could not be configured. Currently I deleted the non functioning entry and put the bulb back in the box.
If someone has a suggestion I’m willing to try it.

Why the Hue? For me it was the bulb construction. We are planning to use them in uplights located on the floor. In some locations the bulb can be seen. The Cree Connected bulb has cutouts in the top and the GE is just weird.

I’m not a 100% sure as I do not own any hue bulbs but I think you need to need to have the bulbs paired to the hue hub and then use the hue plugin in vera, this is one of the problems or “features” with zigbee, a manufacture can make it proprietary and keep you locked into their system.

Hi SteveZ,

You’re probably right :). I was hoping with the inclusion of Zigbee in the VeraPlus it might work. As for the proprietary configuration, I don’t know Philip’s business model but proprietary components have dropped by the wayside.

Anyway the Philips Hue is back at HomeDepot and I have a Cree and GE to try. I understand the GE is a slamdunk and Cree is likely OK.
