Veraplus Hue support

Got Veraplus, anyone have the color Hue bulbs working? If so, how complete?

Thanks

Wondering the same thing!

Me three… I removed the Hue app thinking/hoping the Hue bulbs/strips/blooms would magically popup as configurable devices LOL.

I thought the VeraPlus would act like a Hue hub and would at least be aware of the bulbs/strips/blooms. Nothing I could find. I re-added the Hue app and everything works fine.

Perhaps the best we can hope for is a re-written Hue app that bypasses the Hue hub and talks to the bulbs/strips/blooms directly from the VeraPlus? You would then lose some of the smarts in the Hue hub like groups.

Why couldn’t you put bulbs into scenes to make them act as a group once the VeraPlus has native control? That is assuming it gets added in the first place…

Absolutely! When the VeraPlus can see 'em :-).

I do like controlling my Hues by group (a.LR, b.BR, etc); I never put an individual bulb in a scene; using groups make me think I’m off loading some of the “work” to the Hue Hub (from the Vera). With the VeraPlus, I have more confidence it can handle it.

I thought the HUE bulbs were ZIGBEE, no ? If so, why can’t we discover them from the Vera plus directly?

Is this not the case? Thanks

It was my expectation as well. I looked at everything I could find about how the ZigBee protocol was “supported” by VeraPlus and could not find anything about how it would be actually used.

@ hmspain - I have sent an email to Vera support , hopefully we will get a positive answer soon.

VeraPlus supports Zigbee HA (home automation) 1.2. Hue lights are Zigbee LL (Light link). For now you have to use the hue hub and plugin.

br636: Thanks. That is discouraging that a mainstream device is not supported.

I would be curious to see a listing of just how many ZIGBEE variants (and associated device name and manufacturer) are out there that are not going to be supported.

For me, I think it best to disregard the zigbee support and welcome the ram and cpu improvements only, as this will avoid frustration and countless hours trying to get Hue and Smartthings sensors paired with the new Vera Plus.

Thanks for the info!

Thank you! Don’t you love it when Marketing hypes something new you can’t actually use? I must have missed that helpful fine print.

There are many different Zigbee profiles. The Cree bulbs that people have not been able to pair also use LL.

From what I have read (I’m not an expert on the topic) it is possible to pair a LL product to an HA hub but it does not seem like the current pairing process on the VeraPlus supports this.

We love standards… we have lots of 'em…
