I suddenly can’t access my VeraLite. I tried unplugging and plugging it back in, nothing.
I did a reset, then added a new controller. That worked. It updated the software. After the software update, it once again says controller offline. All lights on the veralite are on. I am assuming this thing is dead??
If I upgrade to a VeraEdge, can I load my Veralite backup file on it or do I have to start all over?
How to reset the veralite, I do not find reset button
Regards
Edit: I can reset with this steps - quick push-push, and the 15 second hold.
The vera responde locally (not for mios), but when I restored backup, I losted access again
I don’t think it’s dead. I think you are encountering an issue with the new firmware. I’d suggest you call technical support. For a Quick fix, restore the Vera without upgrading to the newest firmware.

There is a [url=http://support.getvera.com/customer/portal/articles/1840689-intro-how-to-upgrade-from-vera-3-vera-2-or-veralite-to-veraedge-controller]process to upgrade a Vera Lite to Vera Edge[/url]. The process varies depending on your Vera Lite firmware UI5 or UI7. There are links to all the procedures on that page. But, you will need a running Vera Lite to complete the upgrade process.
The Vera Lite reset button is deep within the hole next to the minus(-) button on the top of the Vera Lite.
When I did the reset, I then had to find the new controller on the vera dashboard. It found it and automatically updated the software. I had no control over this.
Also, I never had the lastest firmware on it before it died. It was UI7 but not the latest release
I could reset vera again, then I access to vera controller locally and reset it with the command luup through the UI, this fix my problem but I setup vera manually.
Reset from UI interface
Run this code from Apps >> Develop Apps >> Test Luup code:
You can always unplug your modem, internet cable or disable internet in the house temporary and then you don’t have to worry about the automatic upgrade if you feel that is creating your problem.
Also the biggest thing with your backups is to make sure you have a z-wave network backup. If your doing manual backups and don’t do a z-wave network backup before you save the backup then your missing the most important information (all your physical devices). Also going from Lite to Edge can be tricky since some are on different UI and they have a different z-wave chip. It’s doesn’t always workout so good and most have found that you have network troubles a week or so in and eventually you’ll find it’s just better to start from scratch to fix the problems. So I recommend to start from scratch to begin with.

Thanks for the information. So if I unplug the net from it, how would I then access it to set it up?
So I guess I will start from scratch when I get the edge. You mnetion manual backups, is there a way to do auto backups? What are the proper steps to backing up and restoring?

You don’t need internet to access the VERA from inside your network. So if you have a router it gives every device an IP address and if your on the same LAN (either wifi or hardwired) you just enter the vera’s IP and you can connect to it even if the modem or the cable or phone line (not sure if you have cable, dsl or what at home) is unplugged and you have no internet. You still have a local network or LAN. When I’m home I don’t use the servers or web address to access my vera. I use the IP address of the vera.
Auto backups happen naturally once a day. I can’t confirm or deny that it backs up everything and not just the interface. Those auto backups are online only and in veras servers which can be only accessed threw the vera UI and backups. If you do a manual backup you can choose what to backup and where to save that backup (computer desktop?).
When you restore firmware and then restore a backup, the Lite is “disconnected” form your account for some reason. I suspect encryption keys, but I’m only guessing. This will cause remote access to not work.
You’ve got to go into your account and re-add the Vera to the account and remote access starts working.

Re-add the controller to the portal not fix the problem in my case.
