Richard,
I implore you… please look over my Feature Requests and consider those as they would also 'fix this problem… but at minimum, please allow us to completely silence ‘Vera Startup’ alerts.
Veralert is a nice app and I’m trying to make it a key part of my system but – I get these alerts at 2:30am and many other times during the day. I cannot have it waking up the household when Vera logs a system error.
Problem:
Veralerts posts a ‘Vera Startup’ alert anytime the Vera log shows any type of ‘error’
… Example: when Vera logs a “CheckLogs” error. This happens often on my system, not sure why - vera is buggy so could be a plugin ,etc
You can already disable these announcements. In the plugin interface uncheck “Send out messages when Vera Reboots, or these settings are changed”. You may have to toggle it a couple times, reload, do a little dance, etc.
There is a bug in the Software on initial install … The Default settings are actually NOT set.
So you actually have to physically set the setting to disable these alerts …
I keep forgetting to fix this … this fix is minor … the work-around is trivial … but you have to know about it.
From time to time I also get this Vera Startup messages, they can stop for a week and then suddenly come pretty aggressive with just minutes between each alert, and when it has first started it can go on for a day or so. Without me doing anything to Vera.
If your Vera is restarting a lot … you need to find out why.
The nightly one is caused because your Z-Wave network is having problems. And the nightly heal is not solving the problem … so it happens every night. If it’s happening during the day … It’s likely you are hitting a resource limit on your Vera.
You can always toggle the internal alerts off from the Settings page.
Okay thanks, it happens during the day and night. It could be that I’m close to the limit, but according to my system monitor the load is only between 15-20%…? I would like to have the internal alerts on, because it’s nice to know when vera has problems. When it happens Vera gets unstabil. Maybe I could try to remove some plugins…?
Okay, I tried to troubbleshoot the problem, but i can
not find anything abnormal. I’ve removed some plugins that I don’t use, and a few hours later the alerts stopped - for this time. Since I couldn’t come up with something to put my finger on I sendt a ticket to support.
And for the record I don’t shoot anyone What you do RichardTSchaefer is just amazing.
