After 2yrs my Vera3 has died as I keep getting Command Failed messages when I try to activate something and Vera Support say my z wave chip has failed so put me in touch with a rep in Australia who has offered discounted prices on an Edge or a Plus. From experience does anybody have recommendations on which way I should go? At the moment I am controlling some lights and an air conditioner with plans to control another air con and add a couple of cameras. I have a couple of bluetooth controlled lamps which I suppose I could add to the plus. Has anybody experienced conflicts between the various protocols the Plus offers? Cheers for any help.
I have both and I would highly recommend the plus over the edge. The CPU speed and the memory will make your system much more future proof. The extra protocols are just gravy when they will really work. BT is really useless at this point. Zigbee is functional for the most part but does not come without challenges.
Vera’s Zwave signal is not powerful, finds difficulty if there is a concrete wall limiting reliability.
I had to apply an external antenna to my VeraPlus and made welds that have compromised the warranty, instead VeraEdge has ipx antenna connector that allows the security of a greater range of action
