Vera Lite won't travel

Upgrading from X-10 to Z-wave. Bought a Vera Lite, a Minimote, a GE rocker switch for the bedroom, and a couple of Aeon appliance switches. Finally got the Vera Lite setup and connected to home.getvera.com. Got the Minimote connected to the Vera Lite. Got the Appliance modules into the zwave network. Following the directions at
http://docs5.mios.com/doc.php?language=1&manual=1&platform=3Lite&page=include_mode
I unplugged the Vera Lite, walked over to the GE wall switch, pressed the battery button (response: all 4 lights came on briefly and went off), waited for the Ready light to come on but it never did. Tried holding the battery button down and got a very rapid flashing blue light and pressing the + light did nothing. Getting frustrated with this, but don’t know how to get the Vera to behave like the manual says it should.

Help???

My vera lite did not like working on battery too well either. I believe it had to do with how much juice the battery set was able to deliver. I have upgraded the Zwave version to 4.xx and since then I have been able to pair all of my new devices without moving the veralite from where it is. I have not read anybody else do it this way but it seems like I can just cary my laptop around and set the vera in add a device mode and add all my devices that way…

Many pair their devices with out moving the Vera. I have never had to move my vera in the many years of ownership. You would use high power inclusion mode which can be found in the user interface when putting it in inclusion mode.
