Second question for the day (can you tell I just got my Vera)… Networking setup. I would like to configure Vera to act as an access point, or secondary router. It is actually supposed to be located in my basement and I want it to wirelessly connect to my primary router yet still offer at least wired networking from itself (it does NOT need to offer a second wireless network). Is there currently a way to configure this?
That’s actually client mode.
I was playing around with it today, and it is extremely hard to set that up.
At this point, it’s probably not recommended except for [edited] professionals.

Is that a sly attempt at humor or a typo?
I would wait on attempting any advanced tweaking of the network firmware until the net few rounds of Vera updates. You may find conflicts and bugs that will be moving targets.
I posted that at 11:30 at night after a long hard battle with moving some network equipment around. So… maybe a little of both?
Wow, Fillibar, you totally read my mind. Yesterday, I was contemplating ways I might be able to include Vera within my existing router’s network but subject to two considerations:
- Want Vera to be physically located close to my Schlage door lock
- Don’t want an Ethernet wire from Vera to my wired/wireless LinkSys router
The answer is clearly to have Vera act as a client to the LinkSys using wireless!
But until MCV gives this unusual configuration the official thumbs up, I don’t want to try it.
Have you given it a whirl, just for fun? Did Vera work this way for you?
