I don’t have data and am using email-sms to get text data on my alarm status but email-sms just sends an initial message for you to type READ before you can see the actual message.
I am using Vera piped to Vera Alerts to send a specific alert to email-sms from a specific email address that is named to identify my alert. This gives me the identity of my alert and does not require me to type the word READ in order to see my message.
The only downside is that I will have to buy several copies of Vera Alerts but perhaps a deal can be worked out (smile). It’s too bad Vera does not buy this app and build it into its interface.
I don’t expect this is a unique idea from my inability to get alarmsounding@gmail.com or anything as clear as that.
FYI, I had no problem with a couple of new Google accounts but some of them blocked external access and required me to set a less safe mode to allow it. :-[

Or you could just install the VERA alerts app and have a nice organized list with times dates.
As for AT and T,
I guess it depends on what information gets passed to the email-txt utility. Mine only showed the email address with no relevant information immediately. I used multiple email address to indicate the state of the system immediately.
A direct text would be preferably so you could assign a identifiably ringtone but that is not possible with my work-around.
