Hi Richard
I am still having issues with receiving pictures with this latest version…I tried turning on the debugging options but the vera alerts folder is empty
I also tried your new HAL app and that is not working for me either
I have tried both apps on both of my Android devices (galaxy s2 and Asus tf300)

I develop and test on an S2 and S3.
On my S2 the directory is /sdcard/VeraAlerts
I believe it’s device/version specific the path for the sdcard (/sdcard for me).

I wonder if I am missing a privilege for writing a log file … You did find the VeraAlerts directory on your SDCard ? If it could create the directory … It should be able to create the file. In fact it creates the directory when it’s trying to write the file.

I test by sending a message from the Vera Alerts plugin:

Test {Picture(87)} Where 87 is the device ID of one of my cameras.

If you have TTS option enabled on the Phone it should also tell you if you have connection problems.

Both apps seem to crash before or as the log is written
The hal app does not behave like your demo video…some options are missing and some buttons don’t work and the Vera alerts app has no way to access the menu on my transformer tablet on 4.2

Vera alerts app has no way to access the menu on my transformer tablet on 4.2

I had removed the Title bar at the top to save on screen space for Android version 2.x
But when I upgraded to version 3.0 … I was required to add it back for devices that do not have a Menu button.
I just made another update.

No, I still cannot make the pictures work.
At one point I could coose between films or vera alert to open pictures, but it was empty.
Now I dont get this option.
There ie a file on the sdcard saying pictures vera alert, it seems to be empty, and “no program to open this file”.

+1
I have the same issues with this new release

I made another update … hopefully now I can get a trace file (debug options) to see what is going wrong.

I have tryed again.
Still not working.
And no debug option. Not mutch help for you, sorry.

I release another version today 3.0.6

More improvements to debug tracing … I had some initialization problems for the tracing.

Also I added support for the camera to use LAN if you are testing at home …
This will eliminate the path through the MCV servers Hopefully the combo changes will allow
pictures (and video) to get through and if not … I will have some idea why …

I appreciate your patience …

Do not POST the log file … if remote … it will have a password. Edit it … and/or mail it to me personally.

Ok getting somewhere
The new release i can access the picture screen now without crashing and I now have an empty file in pictures/veraalerts filename “@58A

I received a log file … and a confirmation … the problem is not on the Android side …
I have a problem on the Vera Side creating the snapshot at the time of the event.
If you login to Vera you should see some zero length files in /tmp/log/cmh/va.*.jpg

More changes to follow …

: : : : : : Feature Request : : : : : :

A while back you made it so alerts were delayed if there was an active call. It would be nice to be able to toggle this feature.

It’s already in the settings.
Set Message Delay to 1

I just installed 3.07 and I’m still having a problem I have had for awhile. The text of the alerts do not appear on the Vera Alerts app screen. The text does appear in the notification bar and notification area when the alert is sent. So I know it is getting sent successfully. But the Vera Alerts screen shows only timestamps. I have browsed the forum looking for similar issues and didn’t find any. Hopefully someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. Droid Razr Maxx running Android 4.0.4

Click on the time stamp … it is the folder for all of the alerts for that day.

Yes, did that. What I get is a list of date & time stamps on the right, blank on the left. Same thing if I open any of the other days. Sometimes, rarely, I see text along with the most recent time stamp. But if I look a few minutes later that text is gone leaving just the time stamp.

Did you ever run the phone out of memory ?
Maybe the database is hosed.

Maybe try deleting all of the data associated with you phone.
And/or uninstall/re-install the application.
